A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

We are obviously following the "OR" protocol so after much consideration I'm slipping out to Stanmore

LlynTegid · 14/03/2024 18:05

A sharp reverse to Kingsbury.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/03/2024 18:32

Wahoo! Such fun!

Turnpike Lane

HazelBite · 14/03/2024 21:25

I'm going all historical here Covent Garden

MarkWithaC · 15/03/2024 12:02

This is a very stylish round indeed, I must say. Like Roger Federer on the court. I congratulate everyone. What company to be in!

I hope I can do it justice, especially as I see a slightly tricky middle pink on the horizon...

I'll say Gants Hill

The best riposte to that - I have it on good authority from the bishop - is

Cockfosters

DuckonaBike · 15/03/2024 21:09

Steady on, Maud.

I’m chancing a Collins Sling to Highbury & Islington

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/03/2024 22:41

Steady? I am always steady, even after the countess’s customary Friday night come as you are party, where the cocktails ceaselessly flow.

Seven Sisters

HazelBite · 16/03/2024 00:25

A Collins Sling indeed! Clever move !
I think my best option is Manor House

LlynTegid · 16/03/2024 07:49

The Piccadilly line is the bete noire of the game of games and has caused many an incident over the years at various tournaments. Probably why it let to the ban on creme de menthe at the 1997 tournament.

Caledonian Road

DuckonaBike · 16/03/2024 16:32

That ban was shamelessly flouted by many players though Llyn, including some who are with us now. I will say no more.

Holland Park

HazelBite · 16/03/2024 19:23

Creme de Menthe should, (in my opinion) be banned from tournaments forever, causes so many problems and leads to reckless play!
Anyway back to the game, after much consideration I'm going to Goldhawk Road

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2024 19:53

Hmm. I’m not so sure. The higher levels of the game of games can be a little, ahem, tense (especially when the Rear Admiral is in one of her moods)and a little snifter or two can help one relax. It can even inspire a move, such as this one to

Bond Street

DuckonaBike · 16/03/2024 21:38

A bold move indeed, Maud. You are right about relaxation aiding creative play.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2024 21:57

How very athletic of you, DuckOnABike. One doesn’t often see a person as, shall we say, mature as you in such a position (unless you recall the Grand Duke’s contribution to the limbo-dancing competition at the Harpenden playoffs in ‘21).

Warren Street

LlynTegid · 18/03/2024 10:28

Moving south of the river on a Monday may seem a bit reckless, but nevertheless Vauxhall it shall be.

MarkWithaC · 18/03/2024 12:44

There's a 'snifter' and then there's the village hall administrator's home-designed French-pour absinthe apparatus and all it brings with it (if anyone here was at that three-day tournament in the spring of 2017 you'll know what I mean).

A lesser-angled Fleet to take us to Walthamstow Central.

OP posts:
HazelBite · 18/03/2024 22:26

I think a reverse interchange is called for so I'm going with Bank

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/03/2024 22:34

Thanks, HazelBite! That sets me up nicely for a Pendleton to

Sloane Square

MarkWithaC · 19/03/2024 10:52

Oh, I've never quite got a grip on Pendletons but I do see what you've done with it here, Maud, and I think I get it now. It's a lot to do with whether or not you swing at that 70-degree point, I think? I must do some more mugging up.

Barking, seeing as currently the Central is wild.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/03/2024 16:34

Like so much in the game of games, it’s simple when you know how.

Tower Hill

MarkWithaC · 19/03/2024 16:45

Gosh, that's a phrase that takes me back.
Spring afternoons in the orangery with the junior landscape edger…
…
…

Right! A black axel to Finchley Road

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 19/03/2024 17:06

I think I know who you mean, Mark. A versatile young man.

Kensal Rise

MarkWithaC · 19/03/2024 17:43

That he was.

Arnos Grove, widdershins.

Southgate. Two miles is enough on a mild evening.
