A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Let’s shake things up a little (and no, I'm
not referring to the Archbishop’s legendary martinis):

Nine Elms

LlynTegid · 27/03/2024 17:57

Some people who have never played the game of games think it is strange. Or Barking, which is where I move to.

Sad to think how many people have missed out on one of life's simpler pleasures.

DuckonaBike · 27/03/2024 19:51

Indeed, Llyn. Some people don’t know how to enjoy themselves.

Going wide here, Fairlop

HazelBite · 27/03/2024 22:24

I'm going out on a limb here Dagenham Heathway not a usual move I grant you but I'm getting very adventurous in my old age!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 27/03/2024 23:33

I’ve been very fond of Dagenham Heathway ever since Mr Ian Dury suggested we should hit him with a rhythm stick there. I shall move on to

Stratford

LlynTegid · 28/03/2024 09:16

The late Ian Dury certainly helped players of the game of games with some of his references to stations in east London. I'm not sure he would have had the patience to play the game though.

Without any 'industrial language' I move to a place he referenced, Plaistow.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/03/2024 12:56

Nicely done, LlynTegid, nicely done. Under Maundy Thursday rules:

Leyton

HazelBite · 29/03/2024 08:06

There's only once place I can go and that's Kings Cross

MarkWithaC · 29/03/2024 11:19

Apologies again for my absence; had to attend a pre-Easter shindig to do with fundraising for the ongoing (and much-needed) research into vectors and latitude vis-a-vis the Central Line. There was home-made cake, and (briefly) something home-made in a bottle, brought I think by dear old Phibbs. No one got a chance to find out what it was though; Lady H was VERY quick to whisk it away.

Anyway, all the talk of latitude has got me thinking of Xi-Ping's Rule, in light of which I'm going to play an alternate to Southwark.

OP posts:
ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 29/03/2024 16:33

Lady H can be so naughty, can’t she? I’m taking a seasonal swerve to

Goodge Street

MarkWithaC · 29/03/2024 17:23

Heron Quays, although I hope I don't regret that...

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 30/03/2024 17:04

That’s a daring one, Mark. I’m going to try and confound you with a double oxer to Monument. Maybe a bit controversial, but there are precedents.

LlynTegid · 31/03/2024 17:22

Mansion House. Needs no explanation to any officionado of the game of games.

HazelBite · 31/03/2024 23:58

No explanation indeed! I haven't played this one in years so I am being very retro in going for Bounds Green

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/04/2024 08:16

Hey ho. As it’s a bank holiday, Whipperton Rules apply, so I’m going counterclockwise to

Loughton

LlynTegid · 01/04/2024 16:42

That leads us to South Woodford.

DuckonaBike · 01/04/2024 20:13

Fuelled by Easter eggs, I’m making a daring diagonal leap to Harringay Green Lanes

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/04/2024 22:58

Tally Ho!

Turnpike Lane

HazelBite · 02/04/2024 07:18

After some thought I think my best move is to Notting Hill Gate

MarkWithaC · 02/04/2024 14:02

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter? Apologies for my absence from the game (again); I was invited to the annual egg hunt with the Earl of Tyneside and his charming new consort. The assembled guests had quite a surprise when the location of the last, smallest egg was revealed, I can tell you.
But to business, and with a nod to the same Concordance that legalised Llyns last move: Canada Water.

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 02/04/2024 17:26

I am surprised that the Earl does not engage in the custom of pace egging (no eggs are broken for the uninitiated). He must have broken off a previous engagement to a young woman who was from the self-styled Gods Own Country where such a custom is upheld.

Canning Town.

HazelBite · 02/04/2024 20:40

I feel that I must remind you all of an informative and important TV programme at 8pm Channel 5 Friday night, on the origins of the London Underground.
With that said I'm going for Farringdon (one of the oldest stations)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/04/2024 08:14

Oh, I say! That’s certainly put the cat among the pigeons.

Turkey Street

MarkWithaC · 03/04/2024 14:03

Llyn, I believe that relationship did end, in a somewhat... inelegant way if the butcher's delivery chap is to be believed (and he does have the ear and the favour of quite a lot of people, due to some of the things he's able to procure on the side).

Hazel, Building London's Underground? That does look excellent. Mr Mark is out that night at a slightly mysterious gathering (for people with 'a mutual interest' is all he will say), so I may indulge myself.

An interior shunt takes us to Oval.

LlynTegid · 04/04/2024 10:27

The closed line rule would have taken us to King William Street, however given it is a Thursday in the Easter Octave, a repeat of the 1998 contretemps can be avoided by heading to Bank, changing to the Central line and moving to Queensway.

I recognised someone on the said documentary, who is a good player of the game of games by all accounts.
