A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

I don't think I've seen anyone attempt an Obverse with that sort of angle. Round of applause!

I'll essay a full Maltese to Island Gardens.

I think we need the help of the Elizabeth line rule here once we have got to Canary Wharf, to move to Tottenham Court Road.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/03/2024 16:53

I pride myself on my angles, Mark, as you may recall.

Stockwell

MarkWithaC · 08/03/2024 17:05

I wasn't going to say in polite company but, yes, I do recall.
South Kensington

No need to be so coy, Mark. I was and remain very proud of my winning performance in the talent contest at the Eastbourne playoffs in ‘97. Nobody had offered a trapeze act before or since.

Barons Court

MarkWithaC · 08/03/2024 17:40

Ah, I see, you meant those sorts of angles, not the ones we were talkign about that time with the Flight Lieutenant— <<shuts up>>

Bow Road

I'm going out on a limb here (quite a bold move I think)

I like your style, HazelBite!

DuckonaBike · 09/03/2024 21:39

Sets me up nicely for a Wazzock’s Belter to Kensington (Olympia). A robust move, but sometimes finesse is unnecessary, as I’m sure Mark can confirm. Or if he can’t, the Flight Lieutenant can.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/03/2024 21:43

I see everyone’s losing their inhibitions as it’s Saturday night. I shall enter into the spirit of things with a diagonal shunt to

Edgware Road

HazelBite · 10/03/2024 18:00

I'm injecting a feeling of calm into this now Wood Green ( I think it got a bit raucous on here last night)

MarkWithaC · 11/03/2024 08:46

I've missed a lively weekend, haven't I?!? I was unavoidably offline, trying out one of those off-grid cabins, somewhere in the New Forest. It's the retired curate's new little project. They're charming, although I did have to gently tell him that the artworks he's chosen for the sleeping area are possibly a little... niche in their appeal.

PS Duck, Finesse was, oddly enough, the name of the Flight Lieutenant's favourite bar in Shanghai back in the day. I was never invited but apparently it had quite an eye-opening downstairs area, if you'll pardon the expression.

LlynTegid · 12/03/2024 06:49

Let's move to London Bridge.

MarkWithaC · 12/03/2024 09:07

Yes, good move, Llyn.

Mile End, using a half-cocked Punt.

OP posts:
HazelBite · 12/03/2024 10:00

The only reply to that is Embankment

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 12/03/2024 10:07

Oh, I say!

Temple

MarkWithaC · 12/03/2024 16:09

Saw that one coming, Hazel! Lovely.
Bond Street. And yes, I realise the risks, but bearing in mind the amendment in MC: Them's the Rules (Or Are They?) autumn 2017 to the Hammersmith and City exception should see us right.

OP posts:
HazelBite · 13/03/2024 06:52

Very risky @MarkWithaC but genius! I can only counter with Goodge Street otherwise I could end up in Nidd!!!

LlynTegid · 13/03/2024 07:19

The Northern line can be full of traps for the wary player of the game of games.

With the aid of the Elizabeth line rule I move to Paddington.

MarkWithaC · 13/03/2024 08:26

You're too kind, Hazel. I can only credit dear Lord Tabernackle for introducing me to Them's the Rules, on a rainy day at the MC and Croquet jubilee in Lyme Regis back in 2016. He is a very enlightening man in many ways...

But anyway.

Hmm. Of the several options open to me, the best seems to be

Turnham Green

MarkWithaC · 13/03/2024 14:09

Very clever not to go for the obverse there, Maud, as I think a lesser player might have.

I'll take an Individual Bengt to Snaresbrook.

OP posts:
DuckonaBike · 13/03/2024 20:36

It’s a tricky one, so I think the safest option is to go wide with Theydon Bois

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/03/2024 21:08

Oh, darling, darling Theydon Bois. Now let’s get moving:
