When does everyone break up for Christmas? We finish on 22/12 at 3.30pm and it seems so late!

Same here. 22nd. We've usually finished by now! It just doesn't feel like Christmas yet!

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 14/12/2023 20:42

Do you mean school or work? My kids finish on Wednesday 20th at lunchtime, I'm taking some annual leave so will also be off from then (back in on the 27th) but my workplace doesn't close for Christmas (or for anything!) so I don't see it as breaking up for Christmas

geckofrog · 14/12/2023 20:42

Seems fair enough. That's 3 days before xmas

cardibach · 14/12/2023 20:45

As a teacher since 1988, it’s pretty late this year, but this always happens when Christmas is a Monday…the days between breaking up and Christmas will increase over the next few years.

VisionsOfSplendour · 14/12/2023 20:49

Are you asking a out school end of term? It's the 22nd here which seems pretty standard from what I hear from family in other parts of the country

HouseNoMore · 14/12/2023 20:50

School finishes for my DC on 22nd - very late. I finish work tomorrow 🥳

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 14/12/2023 20:51

My DD's school break up on the 20th, my last day however is tomorrow - hurray!! I have 3 whole days of me time including a trip to a spa, I'm over the moon and soooo ready for it.

You've normally finished by 14th Dec?

Sherrystrull · 14/12/2023 20:52

School. I've been a teacher for a long time and it's never been this late. I was wondering if it was the same across the county.

Yep usually finished by now.

It's been a 9 week term for us in Leicestershire which is super long.

Marvel23 · 14/12/2023 20:54

My children break up tomorrow (15th) and go back on 3rd Jan

SunflowerBaby · 14/12/2023 20:55

Tomorrow for both school and my work! Back on 3rd Jan.

NoNameIdeas · 14/12/2023 20:56

Same for us. I kind of like it - means they're not bouncing around at home getting bored and winding each other up as they get more and more excited. At least keeping them in school gives them a focus!

weegiemum · 14/12/2023 21:12

My dh finishes lunchtime on the 22nd (GP surgery) but my dc mainly work in hospitality (I have students!!) and both dd1 and ds finish at 8pm on Christmas Eve. Dd2 is a beauty therapist and her spa closes at 6 on Christmas Eve. Everyone off Christmas day but then ds and dd2 are back on boxing day. It's not pleasant being a yp working in hospitality! Dd1 gets Boxing Day off as she works in a seafood restaurant and they can't open Boxing Day as there were no boats out fishing on Christmas Day! So she gets an extra day off!

CeeJay81 · 14/12/2023 21:15

21st here for schools. Work in Supermarket, so no break here. Just 2 days off.

talktohimmummy · 14/12/2023 21:16

Teacher here... we usually finish late but I think next week being a full week makes it seem much longer to go, if that makes any sense.

Going back on the 2nd is horrific...

reluctantbrit · 14/12/2023 21:20

20th at lunch time.

We now have 2 weeks October half-term and that means Christmas is just 2 weeks now as well.

Wobblywibblywoo · 14/12/2023 21:23

Today, must say it seems far too early

sunshineandshowers40 · 14/12/2023 21:26

Ineedhelp1981 · 14/12/2023 21:28

cringingatchristmas · 14/12/2023 21:48

Floralnomad · 14/12/2023 21:52

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 14/12/2023 21:58

DD1 and DS home from uni tonight. Not entirely sure when they go back.
DH has his works Christmas lunch on Wednesday 20th then off until January 8th.
DD2 finishes 2pm on Friday 22nd until January 8th.
I am self employed and finished up on the 4th for five weeks.
