Tell me some nice news please

Doesn't have to be your own news, fuck it, share your friends, neighbours or colleagues life wins, I'm happy to hear any.
Lottery wins to relocating your favourite lost marble down the couch when you were 7 in 1984, whatever the news is, if it made you happy hearing it, let me in on it.

The nicest news I've ever heard was the sister of an acquaintance was having counselling to come to terms with failed ivf and infertility.
She was having belly aches and went to the GP who rang a ambulance whilst she was there.
The woman left hospital with a baby! Always makes me teary that one ❤
If I feel a bit shite about things I just imagine the joy that new mummy and daddy got getting to go walk around their local supermarket when home to and pick out some baby grows, or how excited their parents will have been for them.

My DD just received an offer for her first choice uni. Literally could burst with pride as she really struggled with GCSE's as just returning from the Covid saga. She has worked so hard to overcome her anxieties regarding exams with her AS exams and A Level course work and is now on track to achieve the grades needed

Me again. This afternoon, my sister's neurosurgeon told her the thing in her head between her skull and brain isn't dangerous, has probably been there for years and doesn't require surgery. It may need some non-invasive intervention in the future but that will depend on regular scans.

My son got the keys to his house today. It's nothing fancy, but it's all his and he can't be chucked out by an unfaithful ex again. (It's happened twice now!)

My brother got married this year and he’s just so happy and my new sister in law is heavenly and we all adore her and her family 😊

My DD got a Merit in her trumpet exam 🎺

DS is doing so much better than last year (when he sobbed through decorating the Christmas tree). Counselling has really helped him.

Its the anniversary of DH’s death tomorrow, miss him like crazy still, but actually we are doing pretty okay 🥰

Sending you love across the interent

Grr!

... how people are finding the joy in small things, that matter to them, as well as some of the life-changing good news also shared.

I have money left over at the end of the month due to being really strict with myself and being honest with family that I struggle so they have helped me budget, Christmas presents are bought, bills have been paid on time and now I won’t be spending January in deficit- this is huge for me and I am so chuffed.

This is wonderful to read - really resonated with me.

EarringsandLipstick · 16/12/2023 05:31

I had a difficult year (after many other difficult years thanks to abusive exH), where I finally got divorced but only after an expensive, bruising process, with much attempts at derailment by exH, and a lot of time in court. I had no family support, and almost no-one bar my counsellor and a work mentor who I could talk to.

This thread has made me reflect on what is good news for me: 3 teen / nearly teen DC who are all doing well, each really making the most of their particular talents (even tho I've found the parenting of them utterly exhausting this year!); financially I'm struggling (thanks ex & bloody courts!) but I finally secured my home & feel that there's at least a pathway to a more stable future; my family hurt me so badly by not being remotely involved / interested in my divorce but I've been able to face up to it and stop exhausting myself trying to make a relationship happen, while not having any dramatic fallouts either. There's a little hint of finally backing myself!

Nanny31 · 16/12/2023 06:02

doodlepants · 16/12/2023 06:31

Yesterday was my last day at work until Jan! And tomorrow I'm going to apologise to a family member I was awful to and hopefully mend that relationship with!

My teenage son's cancer has shrunk by 90%

I’m so relieved for your darling boy. For all
of you. ❤️

StrawberryJellyBelly · 16/12/2023 10:33

@Hammer. When I had one of my children about 43 years ago I was in hospital with a woman who became pregnant after 25 years of trying. She said people had even accused her of having an affair and we all laughed at when she had her baby and he was born with a head full of ginger hair just like her husband.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. I hope
you all had a lovely holiday.
