Tell me some nice news please

Doesn't have to be your own news, fuck it, share your friends, neighbours or colleagues life wins, I'm happy to hear any.
Lottery wins to relocating your favourite lost marble down the couch when you were 7 in 1984, whatever the news is, if it made you happy hearing it, let me in on it.

The nicest news I've ever heard was the sister of an acquaintance was having counselling to come to terms with failed ivf and infertility.
She was having belly aches and went to the GP who rang a ambulance whilst she was there.
The woman left hospital with a baby! Always makes me teary that one ❤
If I feel a bit shite about things I just imagine the joy that new mummy and daddy got getting to go walk around their local supermarket when home to and pick out some baby grows, or how excited their parents will have been for them.

Last night I was at my sisters with my nephews. My youngest nephew is 8 and has struggled horrifically with school, he couldn't write any letters at all, or even his name reliably. There has always been letters back to front, upside down. After a huge fight going on since he was 4, he finally got a place in a special unit around 3 months ago. Now, he LOVES school as they don't do any "big works " and he gets to play all day long (his words).

Anyway. Last night we were being silly and he was drawing and kept saying "show me a meme" and I did but he couldn't read it. He asked me to draw him a meme. Somehow this evolved into me folding paper and writing under the flaps. I wrote very simple sentences and so did his mum. Just hoping for a single letter to be recognised. Out of the blue, this awesome kid sounded out his name letter by letter and then did the ENTIRE SENTENCE! 6 full sentences. Me and his mum cried our eyes out. Today I am so emotional over it and I'm going out to but those two special unit teachers a gift as they have achieved in 12 weeks what mainstream couldn't do in 5 years.

Hope you are feeling better today @Plankingplanks

Much better thank you!! Honestly don't know what came over me.

All my students have passed their music exams with flying colours - including the one who had a massive wobble and burst into tears midway through.
Well done kids 😊

Dd is in a better place and saw her counsellor for the last time on Wednesday- she’s had a great parents evening and is feeling positive and excited for the future. This time last year I was so worried - it’s lovely to see such a positive change in her well-being.

LucyInTheParkWithDragons · 15/12/2023 09:14

I’ve suddenly noticed how much my DD takes after my lovely late grandfather.

Received payment for some freelance work early.

Wow everyone, I started this thread and as often happens with threads in chat it didn't pick up traffic and I've popped back this morning and you've all made me so so happy. Thank you so much!

Some absolutely glorious news here and I wish you all the happiness and love in the world.

Thank you all for posting and letting me tailgate the arse end of your joy, this has been much welcomed and appreciated.

"Tailgate the arse end of your joy" - I've never heard that phrase before and now I'm going to be giggling whenever I drive! 😆

"Tailgate the arse end of your joy" - I've never heard that phrase before and now I'm going to be giggling whenever I drive! 😆

I was excited when I learnt the word 'confelicity' which means 'pleasure in someone else's happiness' exists... Was really pleased to discover there actually was a word for it, because the opposite sentiment 'schadenfreude', everyone knows!
However tailgate the arse end of your joy tops it. 😁

I have had a hysterectomy recently. While the recovery is exhausting, I am SO glad to be rid of my horrible floody periods that I want to shout it from the rooftops!

dressedforcomfort · 15/12/2023 16:37

My kid had a good day at school today.

(Doesn't sound much but he has SEND and is struggling with sensory overload as the term drags on. Been having lots of meltdowns. So I'm taking the positive where I can!)

dressedforcomfort · 15/12/2023 16:38

(Also 'tailgating the arse of your joy' might be the best phrase I've heard all year.)

whatisforteamum · 15/12/2023 16:44

Due to my dd and myself working in hospitality as im a chef we havent had a normal Xmas in many, maybe 20 yrs.
She lives hundreds of miles away now.
We both changed jobs this yr and agreed to spend it together as it could be my mums last one.
All cooking and clearing up done by us.
She has avoided xmas since Df died.
Our ds who moved away just said he could cancel plans and join us.😁
Proper family Christmas.

whatisforteamum · 15/12/2023 16:45

Really pleased for all the cancer good news stories.
We know too well how much it affects families.

NorthCliffs · 15/12/2023 16:48

I've lost just shy of 5st this year, and should hit my goal of being able to go horseriding in April. I haven't ridden for 30 years!

onwardandupwards · 15/12/2023 16:51

Seeing the excitement on my dd face as she proudly carried home her 8 Christmas cards she got from her school friends after finally settling at a lovely school, after a really tough time for her ( she has asd and possibly adhd). She said she really loves this school and has friends 😊

Hiddenvoice · 15/12/2023 16:54

My almost 2 year old bashed her arm. I gave hd a quick kiss to which she very cutely said thank you and then kissed my cheek.

Not major news but after a really rubbish day of work, it made me smile and remember what’s important in life.

mizu · 15/12/2023 16:54

@Sususudio great news! I had a full hysterectomy 8 years ago. Absolute game changer. A new life awaits you and it's brilliant.

turkeyboots · 15/12/2023 16:55

The 2 people I really don't like at work leave this week. Delighted for their new opportunities to not work near me anymore.

shellyleppard · 15/12/2023 17:00

My teenage son's cancer has shrunk by 90%

That is the best possible news. Flowers

Eastofe · 15/12/2023 17:08

I wear a prosthetic leg and I had to have surgery on my hip this year. Because of the hip problems and its effects I haven't been able to use my running leg in over two years.
I've been building up using a new one and yesterday I got to run outside properly for the first time in a really long time and even though I couldn't go very far, it still felt great

KatBurglar · 15/12/2023 17:14

So many lovely pieces of news! I'm delighted for you all.

Mine is very small. A neighbour I like very much but rarely see because she has family caring duties contacted me after I delivered some biscuits and asked to meet for a coffee. We had a really lovely long chat and we both felt so much better for it. Just the tonic we both needed!

Hippychickster · 15/12/2023 17:16

It's my birthday today!

Sususudio · 15/12/2023 17:17

thanks @mizu that's good to know! Sending healing vibes to all those with illness especially @Downtoyou
