Tell me some nice news please

Doesn't have to be your own news, fuck it, share your friends, neighbours or colleagues life wins, I'm happy to hear any.
Lottery wins to relocating your favourite lost marble down the couch when you were 7 in 1984, whatever the news is, if it made you happy hearing it, let me in on it.

The nicest news I've ever heard was the sister of an acquaintance was having counselling to come to terms with failed ivf and infertility.
She was having belly aches and went to the GP who rang a ambulance whilst she was there.
The woman left hospital with a baby! Always makes me teary that one ❤
If I feel a bit shite about things I just imagine the joy that new mummy and daddy got getting to go walk around their local supermarket when home to and pick out some baby grows, or how excited their parents will have been for them.

I work with pre school kids and Santa came today and we had fake snow so as you can imagine the kids had a great time. A little girl said wide eyed in awe 'snow is falling all around us, children playing having fun. Its just like the song'. I nearly cried with the cuteness. God knows some days they wreck my head but its such a lovely job in other ways and this time of year its just magic. I retrained and started a new career in my 40s and often wondered if I was crazy. So that's my good news...I love my job.

I've got myself organised and I'm doing an online college course, and I've finished the Christmas shopping.

DoAWheelie · 15/12/2023 17:20

I just got an early Christmas present of some very very expensive headphones from my mother. I'm deaf and they are high quality enough that I can understand an audiobook for the first time in my life.

Every other pair I've tried over the years left me with too much distortion and too low a volume for me to hear the words clearly enough to follow. I have ADHD and dyslexia so haven't been able to read for a very long time and I can finally revisit some of my childhood favourite book universes.

I recently left a job where I was constantly bullied by management and even the tiniest mistake (think 3 stitches instead of 2 kind of thing), would result in a disciplinary. Anyway my new job involves running a machine which I'm still getting to grips with. Today I made a huge error which meant my trainer had to spend 2 hours correcting it. I was so worried that it meant I would be handed my P45 on the spot (I love my job), that I shed a tear. The trainer must have said something as, just before my shift finished, the shift manager came over and said " I hear you've had a bit of a mis-hap. Don't worry, everybody does it. Go home chuck this shift into the fuckit bucket, enjoy the weekend and you'll have a better day on Monday".
Not the most heart-warming story I'll admit, but just being treated with a little patience and understanding as opposed to being made to feel worthless made me so happy.

Sususudio · 15/12/2023 17:22

That's so moving @DoAWheelie. I hope they bring you much joy.

It's my birthday today!

Happy Birthday!

What a lovely thread.

Hippychickster · 15/12/2023 17:25

Thank you!

KathieFerrars · 15/12/2023 17:26

End of term for me today. Had lovely cards from pupils. Very proud of seeing so many of my pupils on stage today and also seeing all my ASC pupils managing brilliantly. In other news, The NHS has come up with a ballpark date for my hysterectomy enabling me to plan and stopping the worry that I haven been forgotten about.

There was a flooring van outside my house a few days ago. My kitchen is in desperate need of a new floor and my landlord has no inclination to replace it, but as I have no intention of leaving any time soon I'm not putting up with it and I'm going to replace it myself.

I asked the fella for a quote so he measured up for me.

Next thing I know, my lovely neighbour and her friend got talking to me and he said he'd do it for half the price! He's dropped off a sample book so I can pick what I like.

I live in a poor neighbourhood, we're all very wc and frankly skint, but everyone really looks after each other

Icouldbehappy · 15/12/2023 17:31

Happy birthday 🎂

Just checked in to our flight to Canary islands for Christmas. Kids first flight and our first time abroad in 6 years. We have all had a tough couple of years, ds diagnosed as Sen, husband suffered from debilitating long COVID for months leaving me picking up everything, I've had constant tonsillitis resulting in having my tonsils out. Finally all doing well again so we are off for some winter sun.

Oh, I've just turn a (design) project round in 24 hours after a successful first year running my business. Expecting even better next year with a few projects already lined up.

furtivetussling · 15/12/2023 18:45

DD's friend's premature baby is stable, off a ventilator and breathing on his own.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 15/12/2023 18:51

I had a much wanted and longed for baby boy this year. He is the first grandchild on both sides of the family and first great grandchild of my grandparents. He’s made everyone so happy.

OnAir · 15/12/2023 18:54

I had my baby last weekend. She's the best thing ever. My partner is completely in love with her and I could watch him with her for hours. I'm so proud.

Daleksatemyshed · 15/12/2023 19:44

@DoAWheelie that's a wonderful present, so many audio books out there for you to enjoy!

LollipopViolet · 15/12/2023 19:49

My grandma got results from follow up scan and bloods yesterday - she'd been diagnosed with ovarian and bowel cancers. No sign of cancer on anything.

She does have a couple of ailments they've picked up on the scan, 2 we knew about, 1 we didn't but all of that is being referred to the right people to manage.

I feel like I can breathe for the first time since February!

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 15/12/2023 20:04

A publisher in a European country has offered me a few £k for my book, on the back of seeing it at Frankfurt Book Fair:)

ChiNonFaNonFalla · 15/12/2023 20:07

It's really lovely to read all the posts.

My good news is I gave blood without any fainting episode after having to wait for what felt like ages after a big operation.
I saw my child's nativity today.
Watching a room of four and five year olds joyously singing and dancing, each one dressed up, looking happy, melted my heart.

I was excited when I learnt the word 'confelicity' which means 'pleasure in someone else's happiness' exists... Was really pleased to discover there actually was a word for it, because the opposite sentiment 'schadenfreude', everyone knows!
However tailgate the arse end of your joy tops it. 😁

Ooh, I didn't know "confelicity" either - happy to learn that as well!
