Well Mone is obviously obfuscating.

There will always be grabbers like Mone.

What we needed was decent, thorough and fair processing of applications.

What we got was Tory ministers and donors chucking out processes and flinging cash at their friends.

That is what I am most angry about.

AutumnCrow · 17/12/2023 11:23

Will Michelle Mone have to give evidence at the Covid Inquiry during the procurement module? I know that module isn't scheduled for a while, but the anticipation will be good.

DuncinToffee · 17/12/2023 11:29

Not only did she lie, she also threatened to sue journalists exposing her lies.

Rachel Reeves is saying that there will be a Covid Corruption Commissioner if Labour to come to power and she becomes the Chancellor.

The Times reporting the Government don't have any planes to fly to Rwanda and the only airport that will take it on needs £20 million spent on security etc. Defence don't want to have to fork out for security so the Home Office are arguing with the Treasury to get the funding.

Doesn't seem like a good use of taxpayers money for a couple of hundred asylum seekers but what do I know.

DuncinToffee · 17/12/2023 15:43

Can't they do helicopter share with Sunak?

Now that would be interesting.

Now that would be interesting.

It’ll be very interesting. Wes Streeting was very clear this morning that they’re going to be hellbent on retrieving as much money as possible.

LlynTegid · 17/12/2023 17:26

It's not just corrupt Covid procurement that Labour needs to tackle as a pandemic legacy if they form the next government, but it will be a start.

Not that Labour need it, but I'd expect that to be a vote winner.

Pedallleur · 17/12/2023 19:24

Barrowman no stranger to financial misdeeds nor his mate who now works for Prince Andrew.

Pedallleur · 17/12/2023 19:35

Arthur Lancaster is the business associate who now works with Andrew. Lancaster and Barrowman were involved with HMRC. All about the money and making it short of doing bank robbery. White collar crime with a peerage and a 5 star lifestyle

It is quite a canny policy, because it puts the Tories in a corner.
Do they respond saying they will do the same, given it is likely to be a popular policy, or do they ignore it?
If the former, it still begs the question why they haven't already.

RafaistheKingofClay · 17/12/2023 19:44

Mone is a bit upset about some of the community notes that have been attached to clips of the interview on Twitter. Apparently they are biased and inaccurate. Diddums.

It’s going about as well as you’d expect.

StarlightLady · 17/12/2023 19:52

Has anyone been following the Covid inquiry? He is now saying “there was over compliance with the order to stay home”.

So people were fined (rightly so) if they did not comply, which is why he was fined, and now he is saying we over complied.

Compliance does not mean optional!

Northernsouloldies · 17/12/2023 19:56

Some people were fined rightly so..... Are you for real meanwhile those at the top had no regard for rules and in Scotland sturgeon used it to use dictatorship announcements daily.

jgw1 · 17/12/2023 20:19

The will of the people.

Sunak is an utter bastard re that quote.
I have two disabled teenagers (Autism & Clinical Anxiety) who were genuinely scared that if we went out of the house we would be arrested (I soon learned not to have any news on at all but of course they heard via school / SM anyway)
It has been VERY hard to undo the effects (one has managed it, one has not)
Not forgetting this was the Govt who at one point early on were quietly arranging blanket DNR orders for those with learning difficulties. Bastards.

StarlightLady · 18/12/2023 10:15

@medianewbie - To clarify this quote about people being too compliant came from the front page of the Daily Telegraph (hardly an anti-establishment journal!) on 12 December.

Notonthestairs · 18/12/2023 10:26

Essentially they want to shift the blame for their handling of the pandemic on to voters.
I presume that is to siphon off votes from lockdown sceptics - despite the fact that they were in Government with the very same people sitting around the cabinet table as now.

https://www.itv.com/news/2023-12-17/charity-expresses-profound-concerns-about-pms-direction-on-disability

A prominent charity has expressed its "profound concerns" about Rishi Sunak's "course of direction on disability" after he downgraded the dedicated role of disabilities minister.

In a letter sent to the prime minister, seen by ITV News, Scope's Executive Director James Taylor strongly urges Mr Sunak to reinstate the role to its "proper" Minister of State level.

Her complaint about being community noted got community noted Grin

Please tell me she didn’t try to contest a community note and got community noted in the process. This can’t have happened

This is new. It is isn't it? I must say I am rather losing track.

Tory MP Miriam Cates under investigation by commons standards watchdog.

Oh, another one. I'm so surprised. And it's the lovely Miriam. Even more surprised. This must be a terrible error and "I have done nothing wrong" can't be far behind. Maybe a U Tube?
