If you're over 50, what supplements do you take?

I'm on HRT and also take magnesium to help me sleep but I feel like I'm still lacking in energy levels. I exercise 4-5 times a week but sometimes it's an effort to motivate myself. I feel constantly tired. Thinking of taking B12 as well.

What do you take for energy levels?

Vitamin D3 and Biotin. I'm also very tired a lot!

LittleMissSunshiner · 10/12/2023 18:15

Iron supplements, Vit D3 & K, magnesium, zinc, kelp / iodine, various B vits

Parker231 · 10/12/2023 18:16

I don’t take anything but find that gym sessions or a run are brilliant for increasing energy levels and good sleep habits.

Pixiedust1234 · 10/12/2023 18:19

I find i feel healthier (and therefore less tired) when I take Vitamin D with K, Vitamin B12 and Iron (all in spray form).

DRS1970 · 10/12/2023 18:19

I take a multivitamin daily.

Roselilly36 · 10/12/2023 18:24

I take a menopause supplement that contains mainly b vitamins, but some other supplements. Also vit d3.

Wholovesabitofcheese · 10/12/2023 18:44

I take iron tablets, hair, nail and skin supplements. I feel so much better on my hrt patch but still feel tired. I go to the gym 3/4 times a week.
I think I will take vitamin D for tireness.

loveyouradvice · 10/12/2023 18:45

D ... so many of us are low on this...

Unusualactualname · 10/12/2023 18:47

I take Menopace and additional vitamin D.

CurlewKate · 10/12/2023 18:48

Merlot, mostly.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/12/2023 18:48

Vitamin D3 and K2 spray, a liposomal vitamin B complex. Occasionally take maca, and am also on HRT.

tokesqueen · 10/12/2023 18:49

A multivitamin, Vitamin D (borderline low) and Ferrous Fumerate (borderline low). Also on HRT.

JenaWren · 10/12/2023 18:52

Please take vit d3 as a minimum OP. We're generally deficient in this country (specially) over winter and it's so important for bone heath.

Christmasss · 10/12/2023 19:13

I take one for my hair and nails.

MintJulia · 10/12/2023 20:05

Maybe you are exercising too much.

I'm 60, run twice a week and practice a martial art. I don't take any supplements but I cook from scratch and try to eat 30 different fruit & veg a week.

I try to exercise every other day, giving myself a little recovery time, which seems to work for me.

Hedjwitch · 10/12/2023 20:09

A multi vitamin spray and Lions Mane supplement.

Spottywombat · 10/12/2023 20:10

Creatine and b/d vitamins when I remember. Also 30 + plants, etc.

theduchessofspork · 10/12/2023 20:11

None. Should I?!

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/12/2023 20:13

Only Vit D3. I walk a lot with the dog, work full time school hours. Energy is good so long as I sleep well. I do eat very well in terms of loads of veg , fruit and lean meat and fish, nuts, eggs, olive oil etc. I do drink some wine but only at weekend and not much these days as it affects my sleep. No HRT.2 years post meno.

Vitamin d yes, most people are deficient especially this time of year
I always had shin pain and put it down to one of those things. Vitamin d level was 9 Blush

Deadringer · 10/12/2023 20:14

I don't take anything but I probably should as I am always tired.

fetchacloth · 10/12/2023 20:15

In addition to HRT I take magnesium and B12.
The magnesium helps me sleep and the B12 gives me the energy to get through the afternoon/evening 😁

HarryBlackberry1 · 10/12/2023 20:17

In addition to HRT I take Vitamin D3, B12, Magnesium, Glucosamine and Turmeric (last two for bad joints abd back).
