Just the 4 of us this year; me, DH, DS and my DMum. We're staying in a holiday cottage by the coast over Christmas week, staying in and cooking on the day.

specialk9 · 10/12/2023 09:59

8 - me, DH, our 3 kids, my MIL and my DHs grandparents.

We're hiring a house in the county next to us.

MinnieMountain · 10/12/2023 10:03

It’s 3 of us on Christmas Day. A few days later we’ll have another 5 people over.

TrifleLayer · 10/12/2023 10:05

4 and then DS GF will arrive about 5.

I am struggling this year as for some reason it has really hit home how many people have died over the last few years. I have had 4 close relatives and 3 close friends die over the last decade and my sister is seriously ill at the moment.

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 10/12/2023 10:07

Approximately 50 - but I'll be at work in an emergency services control room.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 10/12/2023 10:08

Christmas Day, 6 of us at my Mums house.
Mum, step-dad, me, step-brother, my 2 teen DS.

Boxing day, 10-15 of us at my Dad's house. Dad, step-mum, me, 2 teen DS, my brother, SIl, 3 DC, step-sister, her DD. Possibly step-mums brother and SIL. Step sisters fiance and his son might be there. Who knows Grin

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 10/12/2023 10:10

There’ll just be me, DH, DS and our five pets.

CurlewKate · 10/12/2023 10:10

Only 4 this year and I'm a bit sad about it. I like a houseful.

Peepshowcreepshow · 10/12/2023 10:11

On my own, dd's at her father's this year.

itsgettingweird · 10/12/2023 10:11

9 of us.

8 adults and 1 pre teen (and a dog!)

I am not hosting so perfect amount of people and no stress for me 😂

SquigglePigs · 10/12/2023 10:13

We're doing a few rounds of hosting this year. 6 for Christmas day (PIL and SIL) with them staying for a few days. Then my DP for a few days (5 total). Then 9 for New Year (with some staying over and some just coming for the evening). It's going to be busy but fun and I prefer to be at home rather than travelling at the mo. Everyone pitches in too, so it works pretty well.

User3456 · 10/12/2023 10:14

Just the three of us this year and that suits us.
Anyone who is going to big gatherings it's worth considering doing a covid test beforehand and wearing a mask in appropriate settings for a couple of weeks beforehand where possible (eg shops, public transport, health settings). Would be terrible to infect older/more vulnerable relatives especially.

menopausalmare · 10/12/2023 10:17

8 of us for Christmas Day lunch. 12-5pm, grandparents only. Nice and easy.

OldTinHat · 10/12/2023 10:18

No one and at home.

ssd · 10/12/2023 10:20

Just us 4

Duidi123 · 10/12/2023 10:20

14 😬 It is however two sets of 7, I’m working until 3pm then having dinner with the in-laws and then onto my own family that evening for drinks and games!

lesdeluges · 10/12/2023 10:28

10 adults, 4 kids. We are hosting a pre Christmas gathering for 10 adults, 4 kids. And it is TODAY!!

That's because us two are doing a runner to the sun of Estepona for 3.5 weeks next Saturday. Weather looks promising down there.

I should be doing something get organised shouldn't I? But I've most stuff prepared now, just need to get a shower and vacuum the floors. I think... I'm sure I've forgotten something, but my gang won't mind, we are very easy going. My nephew is bringing his guitar, and my brother his keyboard so there should be a good old session when the drinks kick in! Kids have a room upstairs for their games.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone. Wish me luck!

Ivyy · 10/12/2023 10:29

Wow quite a few 15-20 people gatherings on this thread, I thought 10 was big! Are these sit down dinners which huge long dining tables? Or buffet type food where everyone helps themselves?

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 10/12/2023 10:30

First time hosting & we've got 12!! Wish me luck!

Peridot1 · 10/12/2023 10:31

Just us three on Christmas Day - DH and I and DS who is 22. We will wander over the to village pub for a quick drink with some neighbours mid morning.

Boxing Day we may be hosting our next door neighbours and their two adult DCs or going there or just staying home again.

Have my sister, BIL and their two dc coming for new year and staying for four days.

@TrifleLayer - I’m feeling the same. One sister is very ill in Ireland and I’m in UK. I’m going over tomorrow for a few days. I’m feeling the loss of people two and the change in everything.

ItsBlue · 10/12/2023 10:40

Just me and DH. Visitors are banned from 5pm on Xmas eve until the 27th.

shivawn · 10/12/2023 10:44

We normally have a big family Christmas but we have a newborn baby this year who'll only be 3.5 weeks old on Christmas day so we're going to have a quiet one at home. Just me, my husband and our 2 children. My oldest is 2 and understands the concept of Santa for the first time so I'm very excited to make Christmas Day extra special this year.
