I'll try to to keep this as short as possible.

I have a small business on eBay. A buyer bought a fabric and wanted to return it. eBay issued return label, she sent it back. I had to pay the return postage because she stated that I sent the wrong fabric (I didn't but that is another story). But what I received back wasn't my fabric but a bunch of remnants. eBay is pretty useless in such cases. They refunded her because basically I can't prove it was the wrong fabric.

Well, she messaged me on Wednesday that there was a mixup at the post office and I have received the fabric that was supposed to go to her tailor and the tailor has received mine. She wants her fabric back obviously. First thing she asked was if I can send it back, she'll refund me the postage and the tailor sends me my fabric. I told her that's not going to work. I am not paying anything and I want my fabric back first before I return hers.

She now send me another message with a screenshot of two labels. Collection booked for tomorrow and if I am available. The tailor will send my fabric out tomorrow as well.

I have several problems with that: RM collects usually between 9 and 11 but not reliably and I am busy in the mornings, in and out. My husband is away for the week. I'd rather she sends me the label and I drop it off when it's convenient for me.
Another thing, I have no guarantee that my fabric will be sent off, she could as well cancel the label and keep the fabric.

Lastly, the weight is wrong, both parcels are over 2kg. She paid only for a small parcel. Even if I get my parcel back, I might have to pay a fee for insufficient postage.

This is really doing my head in. What would you do?

😂
I'll let you know! But it has been suspiciously quiet! Let's see what she comes up with next.

You'll have to let us know you're ok and haven't been given 20 years for STEALING her fabric scraps.

GreatGateauxsby · 11/12/2023 15:38

Those messages.... Just WOW.

Life must be difficult for a woman like that.

I like others wait patiently for the 4:05 update

Cough cough op....
<looks at clock and stamps foot. >

RealBigBarbie · 11/12/2023 21:45

Did you receive your fabric back from the buyers tailor OP?

LittleMissSleepyUK · 11/12/2023 22:02

Oooh come on OP don’t keep us in suspense!!

OooohAhhhh · 12/12/2023 17:19

I bet you didn't expect this palava from someone just buying fabric from you on eBay!
Seriously tho, no need to cause you all of this stress before Xmas, when you are probably busy enough.

Rhombus79 · 12/12/2023 17:20

So, I haven't heard a peep from her. Here is hoping someone talked some sense into her.

My fabric will be delivered tomorrow, I will have a good look at it. Then I will tell her, that her label for a small parcel is not sufficient because her fabric weighs nearly 4 kg and I am pretty sure the post office won't accept it like that. Let's see how that goes down. I'll keep you posted.

Grimchmas · 12/12/2023 17:34

Oh my goodness I've just read the thread. Bonkers woman, and a scammer for sure. But I'm so sorry for you that she is putting you through this stress.

Pay no heed to any that of police or legal action bullshit.

If I were you if you do get your fabric back and decide to post her her teatowels, I would video the contents actually being put into the postage back while you are at the post office counter, have them/ you seal it on camera, and film the whole transaction, so she can't claim you posted something else.

Rhombus79 · 13/12/2023 17:27

So, I have my fabric back!!! Everything looks fine as well. Feels a bit anticlimatic now, after all the drama.

I have advised her that she needs to send me a label for a medium parcel because of the weight. Once I have that, I can post it.
Fingers crossed 🤞 this will soon be over.

👏👏@Rhombus79 Karma’s a bitch for that scammer isn’t it? You are a better woman than me as I’d have posted it using her not-enough-postage label 😂

Honestly, I was tempted but the lady at our post office is doing everything by the book. I had to buy a new label once because I forgot to enter the correct weight, even though I paid for the right label. She would never let that parcel through. And I really don't want to make the trip to the post office twice.

For anyone who is still following, the saga continues. She wants me to buy the label now because she is on holiday ...

OMG OP, she is absolutely unhinged! Please report to eBay and maybe PayPal if she paid that way! Try and get her blocked! I sell on eBay thought not for work but over 2,000 transactions, the nuttiest one was someone who bought a crystal cave and on Christmas Day weeks later ranted that his wife hated it (as it had a naturally occurring crack) as photographed and we had ruined Christmas and it was all our fault! I can laugh now but actually you don't need that shit on Christmas Day!

I hope you replied that you aren't her free personal assistant and if she wants you to run errands for her which go beyond simple returns she'll need to pay your petrol and hourly rate, otherwise she will just have to do it on her return from her holiday.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 14/12/2023 20:24

Well she will just have to wait - unless she can buy postage online for this. (Don’t know I’ve never tried). Serves her right for being a plonker.

shearwater2 · 14/12/2023 20:30

I'd take it up with eBay and wouldn't rest until I got the original fabric back or she was prosecuted for theft. I'd take her to small claims court and get a bailiff to visit her house and take goods to the value of the claim.

I'd also join her local Facebook group and let everyone know exactly what she had done.

OnionOnionH · 14/12/2023 20:33

She can buy the label online and even arrange for the postie to collect.
I would just shove it in a parcel postbox and let her pay the post office charge for not putting the correct postage on it and then block her. She is insufferable and not worthy of a minute more of your time, although she makes entertaining reading.

HarrumphryBogart · 14/12/2023 20:41

I could have paid for it but your repeated rudeness, attempts to blame me for your incompetence and the original lie in order to get me to pay for the postage on your return has resulted in a severe lack of goodwill towards you. Get yourself sorted out, send the correct label and I will post the fabric in as much haste as I can be bothered to summon. And the ruder you get, the slower I get.

NorthernAttitude · 14/12/2023 20:42

If she's got network to WhatsApp you she's got network to buy the label online. Not a chance would she reimburse you if you paid upfront. Stay strong!

DRS1970 · 14/12/2023 20:56

Just send 2kg of her fabric with the label she provided now. Then tell her she can have the remaining 2kg when she gets back off holiday and can buy you another label.

Ivesaidenough · 14/12/2023 21:05

I would NOT use eBay these days. My ASD son was scammed out of some Pokemon cards. He sold an entire binder for £200, including some rare cards. He would have made more if he'd sold them individually, but he didn't want the hassle. Buyer returned the binder, saying the rare cards were fakes. Except the binder came back without those cards in it...
eBay charged him the sale fee, and refunded the buyer!

Dappy55 · 14/12/2023 21:20

It would be terrible if one of the pieces didn't make it into the parcel wouldn't it...

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 14/12/2023 21:22

She's completely batshit! Who does she think she is ordering you around 😂😂😂
