While I do not think that Liz Truss will cause anyone to start believing that humans can change sex or that women can have penises, I think some people already do believe those falsehoods, and a larger number who may not totally believe them may feel obliged to at least pretend to be believers as well. And we have to be careful what we pretend to be, because we become what we pretend to be.
For the avoidance of doubt, I believe very adamantly that women do not have penises and that humans cannot change sex.
I used to be somewhat open minded on this, but the more I hear the arguments from both sides, the more I find that I hear truth on one side of this argument and horseshit on the other side, and one of my weaknesses (which is sometimes also a strength) is that I lack the ability to tolerate horseshit.
I do fear that when some of the loudest proponents of truth are people who either have lost all credibility (like Liz Truss) or people who are fundamentally obnoxious (too many to name), it can give comfort and reinforcement to such people. They do not want to be seen as "belonging" with Liz Truss or the likes of Matt Walsh (to name just one example in the obnoxious column), so instead, they espouse certain falsehoods in order to be "socially acceptable."
That is why I am not excited about having Liz Truss as an "ally" on this subject. With friends like that, who needs enemies?
