Anyone know where Canadian cheddar went?

Don’t you just hate it when you love a product and then it disappears?

My stepmom used to make THE best cheese sauce and said her secret weapon was Canadian cheddar so I became a convert. It used to be in all the supermarkets (UK) and then it was only Morrisons but now it’s nowhere to be found and has been like that for a few years.

Does anyone know where to find Canadian Cheddar in the UK or why it disappeared from the shops.?

Cheddar Cheese can only come from Cheddar in Somerset UK not from Canada ☹️

Oooh that's the cheese of my childhood. M&s Cornish crunch is good and has a similar tang.

I don't think that's the case - Cheddar isn't protected which is why you get Canadian, Irish and Scottish cheddar to name a few. Supermarkets have stopped importing the Canadian stuff.

"West Country Farmhouse Cheddar" and a couple of other specific other location-based cheddars have a Protect Designation of Origin, but just "cheddar" itself isn't a protected term and can be made anywhere.
