In response to the person who wants a mountain; my local area is missing a residents-only cable car for the people who live in the 6 houses at the top of the giant hill where I live, to be used when you’re too tired, emotional, cold, carrying a lot of things, have a recalcitrant small child with you, or are hungry, and you don’t want to walk up a huge hill of some renown (as in, tourists come to walk up it). This is a niche wish, I know.

An affective Police presence.

We have quite a lot of the stuff being requested. If we could just get rid of the druggies and knobheads.

Us too. Would like to get rid of the knife/gun crime, muggings/ robberies though.

I would like a safe area where DC can go out without me worrying they will get robbed/stabbed.

Indoor swimming pool

Closest indoor is twenty minutes away

For all the people who would like a Post Office, just out of interest why? There is one within 3 miles for 99% of the population and 1 mile or 90% of the population. It’s the largest retailer in Europe albeit a franchise model but incomes are dwindling for postmasters / franchisees.
So I guess if you are one of the 10% that live over a mile from a PO what service do you want?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 02/12/2023 22:10

Personally I’d love a car ban and a decent public bus service. Cheap as chips so it’s accessible to all and you can hop on and off for pennies. It would transform this sprawling town with crappy traffic and the villages around it. I miss London buses.

OddityOddityOdd · 02/12/2023 22:12

A river

ichundich · 02/12/2023 22:16

A lido

Cycle lanes

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/12/2023 22:23

A greasy spoon. We have lots of lovely coffee shops but the only place in town you can get a fry up is Morrison’s cafe.

Also a lido.

therealcookiemonster · 02/12/2023 22:23

pandas

thedukeofbuckinghamshire · 02/12/2023 22:28

A primark. It anywhere to buy kids clothes that isn't Next or M&S.

Boomboom22 · 02/12/2023 22:41

@WhatWindyWeather Wigan or Hull? Or could be more like Crawley or maybe Kent if further south maybe.

Jingleeaster · 02/12/2023 22:51

Seats at bus stops rather than
the crappy random offering we get now. What point is a bar to lean your bum on?

SeaSloth · 02/12/2023 23:05

An ice rink. Nearest is now 2 hours away waaaah

Wasn't my suggestion, but regarding post offices - I'd probably rephrase it as "post office with sensible opening times". I live about 15 minutes walk from a post office (counter in a coop). It has the most random and sporadic opening times. The advertised times bare no relation to when it does open. So technically I live close to a post office, but not one that is actually useable.

OrigamiOwl · 02/12/2023 23:23

A train station.
Sit down restaurants open in the evening (there is an Indian but that's it other than a few pubs).

stayathomer · 02/12/2023 23:26

Footpaths and public transport!!!!

EtiennePalmiere · 02/12/2023 23:27

A park that's actually attractive

revelayshone · 02/12/2023 23:34

A fruit & veg shop, and some better cafes

MsBea · 02/12/2023 23:37

Leisure swimming pool with slides, wave machine, diving boards, rapid river, and the inflatable out every other Friday for the kids.

Leisure centre with ice rink, climbing wall, bowling, trampoline park.

Coughlans Bakery (semi-local small chain of bakeries near my area, but my nearest is 25 minutes away. I'd like one more like within five minutes' walk. All their sweet baked goods are vegan and amazing. Perfect for my family.

More All-Vegan restaurants. More Indian and Thai restaurants.

Dog-free mall. All restaurants and cafes dog-free. Ideally dog-free town.

NHS dentist.

30 minute drive to snowy mountains, or a surfy beach.

Tube station. Regular, fast, service into London, late service for returning home. Ditto trains to the coast/North. Direct non-stop train to Paris.

A youth centre. Nearest is a 20-minute drive. Hard to get to on public transport.

Lifeinlists · 02/12/2023 23:40

Speed cameras, red light cameras, 20mph limit and chicanes on all side roads. The driving round here is crazy.

LuluBlakey1 · 02/12/2023 23:47

A bus that goes to Newcastle. There is a Metro station but I would like a bus. That's all. I think we have everything else I want- if I could get rid of things it would be fewer supermarkets, the large out of town shopping centre about 5 miles away, any 24 hours supermarkets within 5 miles of us and any fast food chains like MacDonalds etc. I would also like the whole seafront from St Mary's Island to Tynemouth pedestrianised.

Lushers · 02/12/2023 23:51

Attractive available single men in their 40s or 50s 😂
