My very immediate area a good bakery/coffee shop.

sorrynotathome · 01/12/2023 06:31

Green garden waste recycling collection. Food waste collection.

Taptap2 · 01/12/2023 06:33

A shop, a co-op would do. We have two village pubs which are great and a lovely kids playground but my kids are now teens. I just want to buy a loaf of bread without getting in the car.

sgvibes · 01/12/2023 06:34

An undercover doggy adventure playground 😂

I don't know if these exist at all but I always daydream about it when the weather is crappy.

Just a large area under a canopy, with tunnels, things to jump over, sandpits etc. preferably with some benches round the side and a little coffee shop 😂.

All dogs welcome, maybe they could have play sessions segregated by dog size. Business idea anyone?

A GP surgery where I can get an appointment within a reasonable time period

Better public transport

RosesAndHellebores · 01/12/2023 06:35

A high Anglican Liberal Church that is neither clappy nor dour
A department store. I really miss House of Fraser
A corner shop within walking distance

NoMoreCapsLock · 01/12/2023 06:38

Better jobs

OldTinHat · 01/12/2023 06:43

A Greggs. A doctors surgery. An NHS dentist. A post office.

FallingAutumnLeaf · 01/12/2023 06:44

A bus service back would be good.

A department store in the nearest large town (M&S, Debenhams, House of Frazer all gone in the past few years).

Simonjt · 01/12/2023 06:49

A Pakistani restaurant, as in a proper Pakistani restaurant, not a western restaurant pretending to be Pakistani. I’d even be happy for an Indian or Bandladeshi restaurant, as long as it isn’t actually just serving western food as most do.

chosenone · 01/12/2023 06:50

A hospital

FannyCradocksDoughnut · 01/12/2023 06:53

An Ikea

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 01/12/2023 06:56

A sushi restaurant.

desperatemum24 · 01/12/2023 07:04

We have quite a lot of the stuff being requested. If we could just get rid of the druggies and knobheads.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/12/2023 07:11

A bus service that has a sensibly timed last bus back from the city. More buses on Sundays.

Better walking routes to surrounding villages. A pavement on one side of the road would be a good start.

Wendyspotatopeeler · 01/12/2023 07:13

I'm really lucky that we have most things within a 5 mile radius of our house. I can't think of what we are missing. Ikea is about 6 miles.

YorkieTheRabbit · 01/12/2023 07:21

A reliable phone signal.

notprincehamlet · 01/12/2023 07:23

Housing, public transport, less traffic, somewhere safe and nice to run and cycle, a pool, a lovely bakery and coffee shop, some nice mooch-y shops. There's a scary pub, a takeaway with hygiene issues, a tool hire place, a tiny co-op and a road that's impossible to cross because of the relentless traffic. There aren't many good reasons to set foot outside! I was in a little town in France recently and it was so sociable with lovely independent shops, cafes, markets and parks.

OnceUponAPileOFWashing · 01/12/2023 07:24

I live near Hexham which is one of those towns that's really well served for culture, sport facilities, pubs, Indy shops, hospital, doctors etc. BUT despite loving a more countryside life I really miss having a John Lewis on more doorstep. I know that sounds silly but I miss browsing a really lovely, well curated department store with quality merch.
There's one in Newcastle which isn't far away but between shipping kids to various activities and play dates I don't get to go there much and it's just not the same with whinging kids.

lollipoprainbow · 01/12/2023 07:26

missjeanbrodiee · 01/12/2023 07:30

A cinema, a bowling alley, a restaurant… just anything to do. We are a town of 80k.
