Which shops let dogs in?

Planning a trip into town this afternoon to see the Christmas market. Might do a bit of shopping. Taking the pooch - which shops let dogs in? I know JL do.

(Don't worry, he won't pee or poo in here, he's very well trained).

I've read some b&m stores do. We was in Worcester a couple of weeks ago and someone had theirs in b&m .

SiennaMillar · 26/11/2023 12:09

H&M

Letsnotargue · 26/11/2023 12:11

White Stuff and Fat Face.

Some shops usually do, but can’t if they’re in a shopping centre, so bear that in mind if you have to go inside a shopping centre to get to them.

Just about all of them in North Yorkshire.

Our highstreet have stickers in some shop windows saying 'Dog friendly'. Shoe shop, haberdashery, several cafes and a clothing shop allow her inside.

B&M let me carry the dog in the shop but be on the ground in their garden centre part

B&Q used to allow her to walk on the lead. About 4mths ago, they said she had to sit in a trolley or be carried.

It might depend on the store. Is the dog small enough to carry if they won't allow it on the ground?

Robert dyas and blacks.

WhatInFreshHell · 26/11/2023 13:47

Why do you need to take your dog shopping?! Absolutely bizarre! Christmas markets are busy places, what if the dog gets trodden on? I really don't want smelly dog hair all over clothes I buy in shops, just because you can leave your dog at home? Honestly, so strange. No wonder dogs have separation anxiety these days, the owners create it!

Not my local garden centre which has recently introduced a ban after several pee and poo incidents and one case of a dog knocking a display over, smashing some goods which the owner refused to pay for.

M&S allow dogs, I saw one pee on some nightdresses earlier this year while the owner wasn't paying attention.

pacora · 26/11/2023 13:58

dogs everywhere 😫

seagull82 · 26/11/2023 14:04

Tkmaxx as long as you carry them or there in one of those dog pushchairs.

momager1 · 26/11/2023 14:12

My dogs are allowed everywhere in the country I live in. They are very quiet easy going dogs but my male gets a belly band on if we are going somewhere new as he will mark on EVERYTHING. but places he has already been..no problem. If they were dogs that would not sit and stay, I would not take them. Here the idiots are.. while i sip a tea watching the ocean. They will not move unless I give them permission. Not all dogs are assholes.

PS my pups never EVER approach another human or dog, unless they are asked to. Dogs are not the problem. Owners that let them be assholes are the problem

bengalcat · 26/11/2023 14:15

Peter Jones ( John Lewis , Sloane Square )

rwalker · 26/11/2023 14:20

Sadly most of them
I can definitely confirm dunhelm mills as saw a dog cock it’s leg on a shelf full of quilts

Gosh I was in London the other day and shopped here and thought 'poor dogs' when I saw them being dragged around the synthetic smells of the cosmetic and perfume depts. Honestly they'd be better off left at home.
I'm a dog owner and like to take my Golden Retriever as many places as will allow but I was very glad he didn't have to endure the heat and smells of Peter Jones!

HeavenCANTwait · 26/11/2023 14:23

Liberty in London Smile

Took my puppy in there in a sling - to the restaurant ! Fussed over constantly

momager1 · 26/11/2023 14:24

@rwalker GROSS that is why..when a responsible dog owner takes the dog (esp male dog) into a common area that they are not used to..they use a belly band. I love my mutts but I would NEVER allow them to piss or shit anywhere.. ok shit maybe but both their leashes have a tube that has baggies

TheFretfulPorpentine · 26/11/2023 14:25

Seriously, what will your dog get out of going to John Lewis?

DoktorPeppa · 26/11/2023 14:28

OP if you don't know then you've obviously managed until now without taking your dog shopping. Don't take it please, it's an absolute nuisance.

It's not the issue that dogs can be assholes. It's the fact that some people are scared of dogs, others are allergic to them and - I know dog lovers find this last one hard to believe - others just don't like them.

bengalcat · 26/11/2023 14:30

@TheFretfulPorpentine id taken her to Hyde Park in the summer and needed to collect something from there so it was handy to just pass by and collect and take the dog in rather then drive home , dump dog , then go back ( obvs couldn’t leave her in the car )

fishfingersandtoes · 26/11/2023 14:31

Can't you just tie them up outside the shop? Is that not a thing now?
