...regardless of your feelings about the settlements themselves? I haven't been to any of the following but they have a definite appeal:

Ashby-de-la-Zouch
Barton In The Beans
Bourton-on-the-Water - it sounds frightfully English

My favourite is Tring.

@HarrietSchulenberg

Badger is in Staffordshire.

However, Shropshire does have Ruyton XI Towns and Knockin (complete with eponymous shop), as well as Snail Beach and The Bog.

Titty Ho. The name of a Road in Wellingborough, and also home to the Titty Ho Motor Company.

It's in Raunds! In case anyone is interested in going looking for it (or a new car)

MammaBay · 23/11/2023 21:41

Shatton which is close to Hope in the Peak District. Two very different feelings!

we also have ‘Poxwell` 🤣 goodness knows where that originated

There are some good ones here in the North East:

Wall (because it's near Hadrian's Wall)
Wallsend (because that's where it ends)
Pity Me
Old Man's Bottom (good swimming spot)
Shilbottle (not funny in itself but what's funny is the person who changes it to Shitbottle constantly.)
No Place
Once brewed, which is next to twice brewed

MrsDrudge · 23/11/2023 21:55

Willey (it’s near Rugby)
