Does anyone vape in the loos at work?!

Just curious!

I work for a very large, very professional corporation, but a couple of times a day, I go to the loo and have a few crafty puffs. (Very non-smelly, fairly inoffensive type of vape that doesn't produce enough smoke to set off alarms)

It's highly unprofessional, but im just wondering how common it is! I can't be the only one!

I do, as I don't want my boss to know I vape. Others do it openly in the office so I'm not worried about getting into bother.

Sometimes I sneakily do it in the kitchen if I'm making a cuppa.

People vape all over my work! Sneaky little puffs. Vapes only set off fire alarms when the air is thick with it, like shower steam sometimes does. I’m always suprised at the amount of people who blow huge wafts of smoke in your direction like it’s normal.

LuluBlakey1 · 22/11/2023 23:21

No- I don't smoke at all.

justkeepchanging · 22/11/2023 23:54

Sometimes! Never if there is anyone else in there though, it is a tiny vape with very little vapour and a menthol smell, I wouldn't think twice about vaping in a hotel room - it's only me sleeping there and I've paid for the room - the shower or kettle would be just as likely to set off the smoke alarm

Oh honestly. Vaping is gross - like adults sucking on their dummies - and made even worse by said adults not being able to wait to be outside. The entitlement of thinking everyone wants to breathe in your chemicals!

Exactly this, adult dummies! No self control or consideration to go outside.

I add food flavourings to my vapes

Please don’t do this. My dh is involved with the manufacturing of food additives and we’ve had discussions (yes, our conversations are riveting!) about how some fragrances and flavourings are safe to be consumed but are toxic when inhaled.

I used to do this and to be honest, that’s how I recognised that I had a problem and went cold turkey.

it’s a bit scary to think that you have to risk your job to vape in a bog. I’d never do that smoking.

i got myself some Nicorette gum and pushed through. Took about three days to not reach for it but It’s SO good to be free of it. (And I’ve saved £240 in one month it got to the point I was vaping one elf bar a day!) I can only encourage you to do the same. It’s the most addictive thing I’ve ever been addicted to.

Congrats on getting free of it 👏👏

I agree, if it's at the point where you'll risk your job doing it in the toilets, you have an addiction.

CrapGoat · 23/11/2023 14:43

@Journeytosober could you please tell me how you did it? I'm determined to-I am only on between 1 and 3% Nicotene now but it is still the habit that drives me nuts.

BiscuitsandPuffin · 23/11/2023 14:45

Jesus how pathetic and childish; people who think they're getting away with a "crafty" vape in the toilets are only kidding themselves. Everyone knows and they think you're a dickhead. Just like we all knew who you were and thought you were dickheads when you were 13 and smoking in the school toilets.

EmpressSoleil · 23/11/2023 16:12

People saying they vape in hotel rooms and airports are blowing my mind, does no one fear getting fined or just getting into trouble

I'll get roasted for this but you can actually get away with smoking in a hotel if you do it in the shower and then run the shower tap hot. The steam removes all the smoke/smell. Generally I will go outside (or ideally book somewhere with a balcony) but I have used this trick a few times, in places that would definitely be contacting/charging me if they realised.

I know you can use an iqos on planes as I've done it. Short distances obviously not but I have taken a few 12hr flights and that's a long time when you add on time spent in the airport too. I have it on good authority that this is what cabin crew smokers do on long haul. I think the issue with some vapes is the large amount of steam but iqos gives out a miniscule amount.

But, as for the original question, I wfh so no issue there 😂

CatamaranViper · 23/11/2023 16:27

I don't think anyone does this at my place. I know I sound naive but as a former vaper, I think I'd be able to smell it. I'm in the toilets very often (weak bladder) and I sit near the loos anyways so I see who goes in and out.

Our toilets are also close to the front door so doesn't really make a difference for people

Sorry I missed this. To be honest I just went cold turkey. Stocked up some Nicorette gum and just went for it. I’ve been vape free for around 6 weeks now and I don’t crave at all. I do have a couple of pieces a gum now a day but even that I’m not bothered by. It took about 3 days for the cravings to go but each day it does get easier. Definitely mind over matter but you can do it ! Download the I am sober app for a bit of motivation. I also downloaded a hypnotherapy quit vaping and listened to it every night. I have no idea if it helped or not but somethings worked !

Starbeeees · 26/11/2023 23:42

I vape, I’m keen to get off it, but I wouldn’t even use it in my house never mind the office loos.

honestly if you can’t wait until you go outside you’ve got a issue.

MarthaFokker · 26/11/2023 23:53

Yes I always have little vape in the toilet at work and on airplanes too.
