Does anyone vape in the loos at work?!

Just curious!

I work for a very large, very professional corporation, but a couple of times a day, I go to the loo and have a few crafty puffs. (Very non-smelly, fairly inoffensive type of vape that doesn't produce enough smoke to set off alarms)

It's highly unprofessional, but im just wondering how common it is! I can't be the only one!

There is no "fairly inoffensive type" of vape. They are all offensive and so are people who use them at work. You have a problem. Your addiction is impacting on your work day and your colleagues.

ExpressYourElf · 21/11/2023 23:32

Not me but in a nurse and have seen people vaping on wards, in offices etc!

Strokethefurrywall · 21/11/2023 23:50

I quit two weeks ago, but up until that point I vaped anywhere and everywhere.

My office, the toilets, cars, bars, airports, planes etc.

Obviously I never had the large vapes that give off masses of vapor, mine were tiny pens. Never vaped around other people though when enclosed though, would always move to quiet part of the airport for instance.

I've never had a vape set off a smoke alarm and I've vaped all over the place - hotel rooms, toilets, trains, Megabus, everywhere really apart from planes. I doubt it would set the alarm off in the plane either tbh but I don't really want to find out.

Really don't try it on a plane. Just got back from a trip where we were held on the tarmac for an hour before leaving due to air traffic delays. One bloke decided to have a crafty vape in the loos. Set off the alarms and was given an absolute roasting by the steward. Told they could have had him offloaded and arrested by Spanish police and only let him off because they didn't want to cause more delay for everyone else. It's treated exactly the same as smoking.

fuckssaaaaake · 22/11/2023 07:19

I used to before I quit 3 weeks and 2 days ago. Yes I'm counting haha

fuckssaaaaake · 22/11/2023 07:19

Mind you my work toilets is my own building so no one could tell me off anyway

I don't think it's fair to force your colleagues to breathe your chemicals just because you are not being allowed your legal break. You need to take that up with your boss.

TheChosenTwo · 22/11/2023 07:25

Constantly when I worked at school!
Now I wfh I just vape openly at my desk 😂

TheChosenTwo · 22/11/2023 07:26

Mine is an e-cigarette not one of those big clunky vapes with billows of smoke, it’s never set off an alarm!

ForeverIsTheSweetestCon · 22/11/2023 07:30

Last time I got on a bus someone was vaping. I had no idea people so routinely ignore the rules honestly! People saying they vape in hotel rooms and airports are blowing my mind, does no one fear getting fined (or just getting into trouble??? The guy getting berated on the plane is a nightmare, imagine the embarrassment!) I really didn’t know it was so massively addictive, I think we're in for some major scandal down the line when we find out ill effects, sorry to all the vapers on the thread.

QueenCamilla · 22/11/2023 07:37

That's very scummy.
I never encountered that sort of behaviour until I moved up "rough North" and took a job in Tesco. So you're in good company.

However, there's some sort of limit to even the lowest of standards. Someone vaped/smoked cannabis in the loo the other day and all hell broke loose at the stink of it. Dunno, it's just smell-maybe that person should be allowed their fill too. What's the bother.

pumpkintits · 22/11/2023 07:38

I think if you're that desperate to vape you sneak to the toilets to do it, you need to evaluate just how addicted you are to it.

CrapGoat · 22/11/2023 07:41

Everyone openly admits to doing it where I work

BubziOwl · 22/11/2023 07:43

Grim and selfish

How did you manage not to vape around other people when you did it on planes? Were the planes all half empty?

KittyKingdom · 22/11/2023 07:58

This thread is funny. People complaining about the smell of vapes in a place designed to poo in.

Whataretheodds · 22/11/2023 08:02

Please don't

Naptrappedmummy · 22/11/2023 09:12

@KittyKingdom and we’ve explained why. Vape smoke is full of chemicals that you breathe in. Why should a pregnant woman or someone with asthma have to walk into a lift or toilet full of it. Just selfish, go outside.

KittyKingdom · 22/11/2023 16:46

Ok yes I’ve read your point about chemicals but the fragrance of others poo is made up from bacteria and faeces from another persons rectum. I think perhaps not taking a big gulp when you go in the toilet is a better method for addressing toilets rather than complaining about which pong you’re dealing with. It’s just gross.

ProvincialLady1 · 22/11/2023 17:01

What are the chemicals that are in vape 'smoke' as opposed to what's actually being inhaled? Do we know? Is there an association with triggering asthma?

KittyKingdom · 22/11/2023 17:17

Oh my goodness if we’re just going to make things up to imply then could pooey pigments cause cancer? This has become even more silly. Please just stop deep breathing in toilets. Shallow breaths get in and out as quickly as possible it’s not normal to spend this much time or thought on toilets.

SirChenjins · 22/11/2023 17:22

Oh get YOU!!!

Seriously, don’t. It’s not crafty, you’re just being a selfish a-hole. You want to stick those chemicals in your body, fine - do it somewhere else that doesn’t require others to breathe them in.

Some people do take a while in the toilet due to health issues or periods. They do have to breathe in there. Just keep your nasty vape out!

Naptrappedmummy · 22/11/2023 18:11

But the toilets are literally for pooing so that’s unavoidable. Why add vape smoke into the mix as well.
