Thread 11 - TalkLair: “The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles.”

Whoops, missed the filling up of the previous thread! (thread 10).

Although the nights are gradually drawing in, the new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey inside. The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Children's taste buds are more robust and sensitive than adults' older and more jaded palates, so it may be they don't need as much seasoning, even without wanting to limit salt etc.

Britinme · 20/12/2023 13:41

When my children were babies we were always told never to add salt to their food if they were under 1 because of the strain on their kidneys.

We had a civil partnership ceremony yesterday. Mainly for admin purposes, but also because after 38 years we've decided we do actually like each other very much. We went for the most minimal ceremony possible and then took the witnesses out for lunch and it was all Very Nice.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 21/12/2023 13:35

Aw, thanks everyone. Our last visitor has just left and we are absolutely knackered, just sitting quietly and occasionally celebrating the silence by saying 'Hark!'.

angelico53 · 21/12/2023 17:40

Congrats here also!

MouseMinge · 21/12/2023 23:32

I don't know if I've told you that I'm looking after the cat upstairs or not. I probably have but my brain is mush at the moment. I'm like a drunk person at a party who repeats a story over and over because they forget they've told you the minute they stop speaking. Oh my god, I hate those people (and me in the past when I did it. A lot.)

Anyway, he's awful, not at all a big fluff of beauty and cuddles and like the softest hot water bottle who happily snuggles on you while you're watching chick flicks with added Sandra Bullock (all hail the Queen of Everything), so I thought I'd share a photo so you can see what I have to put up with. This, laydeez and gentlebums, is Todd:

I am an idiot. This evening I finally got round to making a Christmas cake (very last minute but a Darina Allen recipe I’ve used before which works even if you make it with a few days to go) but, as I always do, I forgot quite how long it would take me to get it prepared so it’s likely to be in the oven until about 2:30. Why do I never learn?!

MouseMinge · 21/12/2023 23:33

I wish you could see how blue his eyes are in the photo. They're somewhere between sapphire and aquamarine. I'm a little in love with him.

MouseMinge · 21/12/2023 23:35

Are you going to have to wait up for it to finish, @artant ?

Life is all about living, learning and then forgetting all over again.

Britinme · 21/12/2023 23:35

Gorgeous floofy Tod!

artant · 21/12/2023 23:49

Woah! I missed the Todd picture. What a stunner! Poor you @MouseMinge

And yes, I’ll need to be up to get the cake out. Luckily I’m nocturnal and it’s Christmas so I’ll watch a bit of crap telly.
