If someone broke into your car right now what would they get?

Just stepped out of mine and made a note that if someone broke into mine they would find designer prescription sunshades, designer regular sunshades, a cheap pair of glasses, a coin purse with about 50 quid in it, 2 dog leads, an umberela, a denim jacket and shopping bags.

A copy of my funeral notice, maybe, I could cry at this prospect. I just loaded up for a day out tomorrow.

Load of cycling equipment, bike is worth maybe £400 if not hot.
Load of OtherSport equipment, combined 2nd value even if hot > £200.
Bag for life.
Dozen+ CDs.
Emergency Sherbert Lemons.
Phone & Fitbit charger cables.
Maybe £15 in meter coins
A dog harness
Good quality 1st Aid kit
A load of rags

My lunch is still in the house, at least.

troppibambini6 · 19/11/2023 22:21

An umbrella
Two bottles of aftershave
Two cushion covers
Three candles
A pack of Christmas baubles
Half a packet of eclairs (sweets not fresh cream)
Some Gucci sunglasses
Tissues
Wipes
A lip balm
Down hand cream

troppibambini6 · 19/11/2023 22:21

Oh and the Aldi £1 coin

MrsCarson · 19/11/2023 23:01

Shopping bags, a pack of tissues, a tin of mints and an empty tank.

hurlyb · 19/11/2023 23:02

This is so odd. I've just thought exactly this. I'm staying in a hotel and outside is my car with a brand new mulberry purse, a toast cashmere jumper, a new toast beanie and less excitingly, a new tyre in the boot. Today would not be a good day to have it broken into.

Most days it's 4 bags for life and some assorted biro entrails

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 19/11/2023 23:04

I sincerely hope that they will take the 2 charity bags I have had sat in the boot for weeks now.

Bouledeneige · 19/11/2023 23:22

A couple of carrier bags, sone oyster shells and a pair of walking boots.

GrizabellaGerbil · 19/11/2023 23:24

My daughter has been borrowing it, and it is a mess.

So, probably tetanus.

Twotwinpeaks · 20/11/2023 00:17

They’d get a ruddy big punch in the face 🤣

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 20/11/2023 00:30

Box of tissues
Spare box of tissues
Cheap polarised sunglasses (non prescription)
Assorted microfibre cloths and a window demisting sponge
De-icer spray
Ice scraper
Driving shoes
Phone charging cable
Moisture absorber
Torch/window breaker/searbelt cutter
2 high-vis jackets
First aid kit
Pack of hand wipes
Tyre pump
Space blanket
Woollen picnic blanket
3 packs chemical handwarmers
Bottle of screenwash
2 bottles of drinking water
Spray bottle of screenwash
UK road atlas - A3, very out of date
2 wheel wedges
Yoga mat
Golf umbrella
Car charging cable

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 20/11/2023 00:30

And an emergency cereal bar.

Carnewb · 20/11/2023 00:43

A travel dog crate, a dog seatbelt, enough dog hair to make another dog and enough sand garnish for a sandcastle.
My smelly old dog walking boots and coat.
A bag of mints.
About 20 CDs that are at least 20 years old.
Dog poo bags.
More dog hair.
Old towels & sheets adorned with dog hair, mucky paw prints and the ever present sand.
Couple of bags for life.
Half a bottle of windscreen solution.
A pound coin.
More dog hair.
Assorted crap in door pockets.

Apart from the car the most valuable thing is the fuel in the tank!

And I think I need to clean out my car!

And I forgot de-icer and spare tyre!

Catsmere · 20/11/2023 00:47

A two-wheel shopping trolley and assorted supermarket bags, a throw rug, the car's driver manual, an ancient spare face mask, a couple of cleaning cloths and sponge, and a lot of hair, feline and human.

Diamondshmiamond · 20/11/2023 00:55

Ooh good question op!

  • 4 bags of wine/ chocs I need to give to colleagues
  • Some recycling
  • various chocolate wrappers/ crisp packets
  • old potty

An old car of mine was broken into and they didn't take anything. Just sat and ate a take away, left curry sauce on the gear stick, and ran my battery flat!

Snippit · 20/11/2023 01:00

Shopping bag, blue badge, and if it’s the weekend my husband’s golf clubs, please pinch them 🙏🤣

echt · 20/11/2023 01:03

Aldi shopping trolley coins
Gym kit in a backpack
Audiobook
Dog leash/stick/balls/poobags
Emergency medical kit
Leatherman multi-tool
Rain jacket
Microfibre towel
Loads of shopping bags
hand cream
Prescription sunnies and regular specs
Reading specs
Melways
RACV Vic Roads atlas

regularmumnotacoolmum · 20/11/2023 01:11

😅😅 This thread made me send my husband to the car to empty it for me so they would get nothing of any real significance right now but had it have been an hour ago:

Around £3k in clothing
A £4k handbag with wallet etc inside
A £1.5k backpack
A box of crisps
A travel stroller
A doona trike
A bag of snacks
A few pairs of designer sunglasses and a prescription pair of actual glasses
A centre console full of change
Cricket kit bag with equipment
Squash rackets
iPhone charger

🫣🫣 I feel as though I live out of my car during the week as I'm constantly running errands in and out of the house.

FloofyKat · 20/11/2023 01:19

Hmm. I think any self-respecting thief would leave empty handed. Unless they wanted:
A set of golf clubs that must be at least 30 years old.

A couple of boxes of odds and sods destined for the charity shops.
Several bags for life.
A couple of old towels.
And a boot-full of old gardening tools, a bucket, folding top, high viz jacket and a water container!

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 20/11/2023 01:26

A small gazebo, 3 deck chairs, some ibuprofen and a few empty shopping bags, that always live in the car (cricket mum!)

Normally they'd also get a few gold coins but I used them up at a sporting bbq on the weekend.

OMG please don't leave cricket bats in the car!!! The heat is terrible for the wood.

decionsdecisions62 · 20/11/2023 02:00

Absolutely nothing in there. Just picked the car up last Monday.

missingyears · 20/11/2023 02:22

Fleas

Catsmere · 20/11/2023 02:26

missingyears · 20/11/2023 02:22

Fleas

Now wouldn't that be perfect - a would-be car thief getting a flea infestation for his pains!

LovelaceBiggWither · 20/11/2023 03:14

Last time the car got broken into, they took a toiletries bag. It was full of emergency stoma supplies so good luck with that.

Ladyj84 · 20/11/2023 03:57

Sat nav etc factory built in so other than old food crumbs nothing lol
