Are you really ok with having another Tory government? Because in all honesty that is what you'll get.

I'm amazed that a single person ever votes Labour. They favour victimhood over personal accountability. That destroys society.

The inevitable Labour victory next year will be the final nail in the coffin for the UK.

The UK has done sooooooooooo well under Cameron, Boris, Truss and Sunak hasn't it.

As for personal accountability, how come Boris or Truss aren't facing criminal charges?

lightinthebox · 18/11/2023 21:01

I personally wouldn’t be comfortable voting for the Tories (never have) when they have been completely morally bankrupt and continue to destroy schools and the future for our children. Ruining the NHS and vital services.

Womens rights are important. But voting on one issue and allowing our children to suffer the consequences in their education and mental health services is too high a price.

They haven't got round to jailing Blair yet so I wouldn't hold your breath.

its not like we don’t know what labour are like - look at wales. Is that the labour utopia that’s the goal?

I would never vote labour though, it opens the door for extreme leftists when they decide to get rid of starmer. Given that you scratch the surface and you see just how much antisemitism is still present in the party - no thanks.

that's not to say I’m happy with how the tories are doing things. But I think labour would be the same in many ways and worse in many others

cardibach · 18/11/2023 16:03

It’s absolutely your problem. That’s what democracy means. The governance of the country is chosen by the electorate. What you are doing is choosing Tory. Vote for whoever can get/keep them out in your constituency as none of the major parties are worse than the Tories.

Edited

No, it's not. I won't vote for any of the main 4 parties as I'm not willing to erase women or support the current government. If Labour wants my vote, they'll have to try harder. Labour being diabolical isn't my responsibility to fix.

Houseplanter · 18/11/2023 21:13

Zero chance of me voting for Labour.

Tories? Maybe 1%.

DarkRainyNovember · 18/11/2023 21:16

I hate threads like this because they've force you to stand up for something even if you don't follow the party and then you get piled on.
To be fair the tories never had a clean run ar what whey wanted to do.
They came in on the tail end of the credit crisis. Then had to collation. Then blah and blah then brexit, covid and so on..

DarkRainyNovember · 18/11/2023 21:17

@GetTheWinterQuiltOut
Exactly.
Imagine if Tommy Robinson was so wedded to the tories like the far left is to Labour...
You go so far left and so far right and they meet in the middle. M

Finallybreathe · 18/11/2023 21:20

I won’t be voting for Labour or Tories, put aside some issues - they are pretty much the same. We really need a new political party!

PaperDoIIs · 18/11/2023 21:29

No way in hell will I be voting Tories. As much as I'd like to, I won't spoil my ballot or vote for a party with no chance to win just in case. So yes, I'll be voting Labour , but I'm not happy about it and tbh, as a woman, mother and educator I dread the consequences. I'm just hoping it won't be THAT bad. Fuck me that was a depressing post to write.

FKATondelayo · 18/11/2023 21:29

Given that Labour has a 30 point lead over the Tories, I'm not sure why threads like this - scolding naughty ladies for not voting Labour like good girls - keep appearing.

As we're a tiny minority of GC extremists brainwashed by culture wars - why fret? Barring a miracle, you'll get your glorious Labour government - which basically has the same policies on welfare and Brexit as the Tories - but Labour will have the good grace to look frowny and sad while implementing the two child cap, 'safe' prostitution zones and ensuring there are no barriers to rapists in women's prisons.

Also I know it might come as a shock to you but not voting Labour doesn't mean voting Tory.

caringcarer · 18/11/2023 21:30

I can't vote for a party that doesn't understand or know who half the population is. At the Labour conference they had GN toilets and the female MP's apparently did not like them.

MarjorieDanvers · 18/11/2023 21:37

I’m voting labour - a lot of the Tory politicians are very very TRA (looking at you Blunt!) - why would anyone vote for them? I think they really hate women - not picking up that vibe from Kier

DarkRainyNovember · 18/11/2023 21:55

@lightinthebox

As mum to girls it's vital for me.

Rosme · 18/11/2023 22:22

Hiphopopotamonster · 18/11/2023 12:16

I agree OP. But the vocal minority on here are so bloody blinkered with their GC views they genuinely seem to believe that the Tories are the party of women 😂 or they’ll vote for whichever ridiculous single issue protest party gets set up first. It’s insanity and defies logic but there we go.

The really simple solution to this problem would be for Starmer to give up his policies on trans issues because the vast majority of the electorate do not agree with him. He can’t just say “The Tories are shit therefore I get to make any laws I like.”

Nobody is asking you to fix it. They’re ask8ng a simple question: who do you want to govern? And if you don’t vote for the person most likely to unseat the Tory in your constituency you’ll let the Tories in - and that will be diabolical for women and anyone outside the top 5%. It won’t help the Israel/Palestine situation either.

PictureFrameWindow · 18/11/2023 22:32

For climate, Labour are the only game in town...

2dogsandabudgie · 18/11/2023 22:34

Have never voted Labour. Won't be voting for them next year either.

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/11/2023 22:44

I will not be voting at the next election. It won't make any difference as I live in a very safe Labour seat. I think turnout will be low.
I think it would be useful to start a thread on what people actually want, and what all parties are intending to do

Cancelledcurio · 18/11/2023 22:59

I know. I am scunnered Op. Been Labour for donkeys then the TWAW pish and now all the cease fire naw/yes stuff and I've been saying "DAMN them all to hell!" and my local MP parades about the Fragrant Steph and I am Spoiling my vote and then the Tories say that those on benefits need to pay for prescriptions. So yeah I will vote Labour then . With my nose held .

cardibach · 18/11/2023 22:59

Teaandbiscuits60 · 18/11/2023 20:57

Excuse me but I’ve lived in wales all my life and we’ve had a Labour government a long long time and it’s been absolutely awful! In my ward we’ve come together and voted the Labour council leader out in favour of an independent thank god! People in wales vote Labour because their grandfather did rather than think for themselves…. “My grancha always said…”. The Tories are NOT the only other party. Let that sink in! Living with Drakeford in charge is horrendous. You do not have drive everywhere at 20 miles per hour do you??? We blinking do. I agree the Tories should not be voted in but NEITHER SHIULD LABOUR!! I hate them and how they’ve ruined this country ( meaning wales).

Edited

This is nonsense. Welsh people aren’t stupid and voting what their grandfather said ffs. And we DON’T drive everywhere at 20mph! What tosh. It’s hardly any of the roads. You can drive from the bridge to the Mumbles and only hit 20 for the first time in the centre of Mumbles. Wales is doing fine.

So you’re choosing a Tory government then 🤷‍♀️
If you won’t vote for the candidate most likely to unseat them you are choosing them.

Its a moot point anyway

the odds are really good I’m going to forget to take id
