Are you really ok with having another Tory government? Because in all honesty that is what you'll get.

In that case @Dineasair , you are definitely an acolyte.

Nice try, but as I’m politically homeless right now, I don’t even know who I’m voting for, so I’m actually the exact opposite of an acolyte.

I can tell you who I’m not voting for, I’m not voting for shifty Labour, the vile Greens or the hideous Lib Dem’s because they are all on board the gender train trying to erase women. Replacing words like mother and breastfeeding and calling us “birthing people” and “non-men”

I don’t want to vote Tory as I hate everything they stand for, but I might hold my nose and vote tactically as they do seem to be actually trying to undo some of the damage now. They won’t take a majority of seats in Scotland anyway, but they will be a thorn in the side of anyone who gets in, particularly if they push the gender woo.

Oh good grief, I don’t think that you understand what the word acolyte actually means. You can’t be described as an acolyte to reality, that’s absurd.

I don’t describe you as that. I think you may be having an issue with comprehension.

Myteenhatesme · 02/05/2024 20:05

Labour don't have a hope in my constituency. Lib Dems are second. I will talk to the candidate and see what he says. I think Lib Dems are awful and don't want them running the country but if the local candidate is reasonable, he'll get my vote to get the Tories out. If he tells me women have willies, nope!

Look at her description of it. That’s her, only to an ideology which isn’t specific to one political party. And yes, I’m GC. I just don’t think it’s the only thing to worry about.

A very tiny prick. The Tories have always been an endangered species in Scotland, they’ll barely register in the sea of red after the next election.

You called me an acolyte, an acolyte is a fervent follower of an ideology, usually either religious or political. Biology is in fact material reality. Human beings are not clown fish and cannot change sex, as confirmed by that expert in human biology, Professor Robert Winston, therefore your comment makes no sense. I think that your the one having an issue with comprehension.

Material reality is not an ideology, I think that you misunderstand the meaning of the word acolyte, maybe look in a dictionary.

A very tiny prick. The Tories have always been an endangered species in Scotland, they’ll barely register in the sea of red after the next election.

I think that your are in for a shock, they will win more seats this time and they don’t need that many to be a constant irritation to Labour, that’s all we need to make headway. The Palestinian thing will put people off Labour as well, people tend to side with the perceived underdog up here, you know, independence and all that.

Sturgeon messed up big time, and she queered the pitch for anyone wanting to push the gender stuff here, they won’t have an easy ride after Isla Bryson and the trans butcher who abducted the wee girl in Galashiels. People weren’t just disgusted by that, they were absolutely furious and we are a wee country so things like that have a bigger impact when there not a thousand miles away.

will be holding my nose against Labour’s left-wing anti-Semitism and misogyny (funny how those align) and voting Labour. With clenched teeth.

This

I on the other hand will not be voting for a party of racist misogynists.

Dineasair · 02/05/2024 20:59

cardibach · 02/05/2024 20:36

You’re an acolyte to an ideology that says that’s the only thing that matters.

I didn’t say that the gender issue is the only thing that matters, I said that it was my absolute priority, and the only thing that matters to me in this particular election, there’s a difference, perhaps you don’t realise that due to your issue with comprehension.

The reason that it’s the priority is that I will use it to determine if a politician and the party is honest and mentally stable. If I ask politicians if a woman can have a penis and they answer yes then I know that I am dealing with someone who is either a liar or a fool. Human beings can’t change sex, we are not clown fish therefore if you don’t really believe that and you say that you do then your a liar and therefore untrustworthy, and if you truly do believe an ideology that has no credible scientific evidence behind it, to the point where you are prepared to make laws compelling other people to comply with it, then you are not a wise person and I wouldn’t trust you to run a raffle never mind my country.

cardibach · 02/05/2024 21:03

OK, but why does that make you stand against Labour more than the Tories? That’s where the ideology comes in. An irrational belief that Tories, who have made matters worse for the most vulnerable women, and led us t9 this position on gender, are a safe pair of haves because one or two vote scrabblers have started saying what you want to hear.

BIossomtoes · 02/05/2024 21:15

I think that your are in for a shock

I don’t think it’s me who’s in for a shock. Scotland was wall to wall Labour until the SNP came along. Now it’s dead in the water I’d bet my house on Scotland reverting back again. Incidentally there are just as many Tory MPs who say TWAW as Labour ones, including the one widely tipped to be leader after they’ve kicked Sunak out.

Dineasair · 02/05/2024 22:07

cardibach · 02/05/2024 21:03

An irrational belief that Tories, who have made matters worse for the most vulnerable women, and led us t9 this position on gender, are a safe pair of haves because one or two vote scrabblers have started saying what you want to hear.

Because Labour are to blame for the position that we find ourselves in with the whole gender thing. Not only did they introduce it in 2004 but they then made matters even worse by amending it so that you could legally change sex and falsify your birth certificate, thereby installing a legal falsehood into UK law.
This was not a wise or acceptable thing to do, it was reckless and ill thought, and has led to the truly disturbing and absurd scenario of a woman who is raped or assaulted by a man having to take an oath in court to tell the truth and then being immediately ordered to collude in a lie by calling her attacker “she”. This makes a mockery of the solemnity and majesty of the law, and that matters. It is not just or fair and in fact favours the perpetrator over the victim.

It has also led to men escaping the appropriate punishment for rape, only a man can be convicted of a rape charge in Scotland as rape is a sex specific crime here, it can only apply to a man as only a man has a penis, the weapon of rape.
this is not justice, it is in fact a disgrace.

Labour has said that it’s proud of bringing in these changes to the law, they have also said that they will pursue self id. The Labour Party in Scotland did vote with the SNP and the Greens for self id, and also for the dreadful and anti democratic Hate Crime Act with which they had hoped to silence opposition. Thankfully JK Rowling scuppered that on day one. The Scottish Tory Party voted against both.

Women and children have been raped and assaulted by trans women the length and breadth of the Uk and also in other countries, our language has been erased and our concerns ridiculed. We have been vilified for perfectly legal views shared by the majority of the population and called Nazis and fascist simply for asking perfectly reasonable questions. Women like JK Rowling have been threatened with rape and murder simply for stating that they will not accept that a man can be a woman.

Yes, the Tories have just let things run their course, many of them were captured too, stupid Maria Miller and Liz Truss among others, but they have seemingly come to their senses. They have realised that most of the population don’t agree with this, as poll after poll in many countries show, and they have started to turn it around. That’s why I may vote for them if I can’t find an alternative, this is the most important issue in living memory because it’s about truth and basic reality. It’s also about not forcing people to comply with a pseudo religious ideology that they don’t agree with and that goes against freedom of belief. Everyone is free to believe what they like, but they are not free to demand that I believe it too.

We have never had a Stasi or a KGB in the UK and yet because the government are trying to stifle opposition on this contentious issue, that most of the population are dead against, we now have draconian hate crime laws in Scotland that are reminiscent of East Germany before the wall came down. Labour have said that they will also strengthen the Hate Crime laws in England too by the way. This stuff matters, it’s not a fringe issue, it goes right to the heart of who we are as a society, are we a truly secular, free and democratic country, or not?

Thanks, this issue just boils my blood.

BIossomtoes · 02/05/2024 22:47

This was not a wise or acceptable thing to do

It was the only thing to do.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled on 11 July 2002, in Goodwin & I v United Kingdom [2002] 2 FCR 577, that a trans person's inability to change the sex on their birth certificate was a breach of their rights under Article 8 and Article 12 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Following this judgment, the UK Government had to introduce new legislation to comply.

This is hyperbole. “The length and breadth of the UK” indeed. There have been a couple of cases. Obviously one is too many but this kind of dramatic exaggeration does your cause no favours.

Which polls? And can you link to them? Because this issue doesn’t even make the 20 issues of greatest concern to the UK electorate.

Well, no. Because the Tories have had 14 years to undo it, and they’ve pushed it further whilst making life worse for the most vulnerable women. So not well said. Deluded nonsense.
