Are you really ok with having another Tory government? Because in all honesty that is what you'll get.

How easy is it under the Tories? 96% applicants get a GRC, its costs £5 and the other 4% are refused because they don't fill out the paper work correctly (Gov.uk figures)
Up to the end of 2020/21, the Gender Recognition Panel had issued 6,010 full GRC s.(3 Mar 2022)

Almost 100% of men who want to be a woman can do so. If thats not self ID i don't know what is,

As i said, collapse of womens health services are vital, no good having safe spaces if you're dead, just look at what top tories during the pandemic, including Sunak were saying about allowing people, inc women, to die as a price worth paying.
Yet they said the complete opposite to the public, so why does anyone believe a word they say on females?

fwiw i don't agree with Labours approx but my vote will be decided on manifesto's and on each parties record in Govt and that is the Tories record, as no other party has been in power for the last 14 years - by the time of the next GE.

Whatever it is Labour have pledged to make it easier.

And they prefer not to have ‘heat’ but stated they will take the public with them. So preferably no challenges. Which pp do nicely when they post Labour have ‘rowed back’.

On the pandemic I wanted to avoid damage to women and children via lockdowns. Not many wanted to hear about that on here, with so many pro harsher measures.

CurlewKate · 21/11/2023 08:19

@boudiccathecat "That is arrant whataboutary. Why is it impossible to sort out women’s rights at the same time as helping homeless people."

Of course it should be entirely possible. But this thread is about who we vote for in the next 6 months. Which means- god save us-choosing one of the available parties and deciding what our realistic bottom lines are.

boudiccathecat · 21/11/2023 09:03

Well I won’t be voting for a party that won’t listen to my legitimate concerns about women’s safety , dignity and privacy. And rights to single sex spaces.
it’s basic human rights that are being waved away for policies which men are more invested in.
women’s rights are human rights

BIossomtoes · 21/11/2023 09:11

And I won’t be voting for a party that presides over crumbling public services and prioritises tax cuts over education, the NHS and social care - all of which affect the entire population. Anyone who can look at the shitshow of the last 13 years and willingly vote for more of it needs to have a long, hard look in the mirror.

boudiccathecat · 21/11/2023 09:24

So you admit labour are throwing women under the bus
ill vote for anyone who puts women’s rights to the fore. I’m waiting for KJK.

Same here. No regrets with votes.

Everyone gets one to make the decision they want. All the shaming is completely irrelevant.

Do I? Where did I say that?

aswarmofmidges · 21/11/2023 09:39

It's not shaming to say that other human rights are also important to me - disabled people for example and I'd prioritise them over other issues

It's not shaming to say that whilst the tories think women is biological I don't think that they actually care about people - I don't think they care about nhs based health or state education or social care - all things that women tend to find more important than men - and all things that are important to me

If you feel shamed by people stating these as their drivers for voting direction - if you feel shamed that you deprioritise these issues - then perhaps you want to think a little more about why you feel that way

Did I say that? No. I said the attempts are completely irrelevant. They do not impact me whatsoever. They are very silly though hence the mention.

You have your priorities other women have their’s

No one needs to ‘take a long look in the mirror’ or other bollocks as in pp. Well they can if that’s their hobby, but not demand it of others.

I’m fine with making decisions without other people thinking they get any say.

aswarmofmidges · 21/11/2023 09:54

I just said if you feel shamed by the opinions of others you need to think why

I will stand by that

If you don't feel shamed then fine

I said nothing about looking in mirrors - and I think your rephrasing of my languages is interesting- you have chosen to rephrase in more dramatic and dismissive language - why did you gee the need to do that ?

I don’t. I just said again, it is irrelevant and I find it silly.

Why do you think that first post was aimed at you? It wasn’t.

Scroll back about a couple of posts to see what I’m quoting.

EasternStandard · 21/11/2023 10:00

I feel I’ve done what I can to promote women’s rights, speak up with other great posters and help shift the conversation.

No regrets and nothing near ‘shame’

aswarmofmidges · 21/11/2023 10:01

I was commenting on the person who was complaining that people were trying to shame them

That either means someone said " I am trying to shame you" , or they actually feel a ping of shame or they are just happy to deliberately misinterpret what people are saying - like I will here and say perhaps you just like an argument

But I say that because I feel you used more dramatic and emotive language to rephrase what I say - oh look I examine why I feel the way I do and respond the way I do

boudiccathecat · 21/11/2023 10:02

i think the OP calling it gender nonsense pretty much sums up the attitude towards women’s rights

I quoted the pp as that was what I was referring to. To clear that up.

Can you scroll back a few posts to see..

Quite. And it’s the same stance of Lisa Nandy this week - telling us in years to come that we’ll be embarrassed of all the fuss we’ve made of this.

They’ve not rowed back on anything.

Onand · 21/11/2023 10:09

All I will say is anyone who vote’s Conservative at this point is completely out of their mind or has sadistic tendencies.

And no no ‘ping’

I massively appreciate other women / posters who say the same as me

Not one of us should feel anything near a ping. We’re doing more, it’s all good.

The language was not mine hence the ‘ ‘ marks showing a quote from pp

BIossomtoes · 21/11/2023 10:25

I feel I’ve done what I can to promote women’s rights

So do I. I go back to the days of no maternity leave/pay, even more pay inequality than there is now and virtually no childcare available for anyone. I was more than happy to work hard towards those things. I’m not prepared to throw the entire population under the bus because the party that’s spent nearly 14 years destroying the fabric of our society has discovered it’s expedient in certain quarters to purport to know what a woman is. Despite having done bugger all to promote women’s interests. Deeds not words as the greatest feminist of the 20th century said.

Maternity services are a huge issue for any woman surely and for men too?

Yet the collapse in safe maternity services is just swept under the carpet, no one so far has responded to my concerns on these, just more "Labour don't know what a woman is"

Its frightening that so many of us just focus on ONE issue, ignoring everything else.

Not to mention zero response to the 1000s of men issued with GRC's by the Tories.

’Labour don't know what a woman is’

I know from anyone using this phrase it’s not a priority for them, it’s a dismissive re-write

Same goes when people use ‘trans issues’ not women’s rights

BIossomtoes · 21/11/2023 10:37

Factually correct. Women’s rights is way bigger and more complex than who’s in a toilet.

EasternStandard · 21/11/2023 10:38

lol at ‘toilet’

Yep that’ll be the one that clinches it 😂

EasternStandard · 21/11/2023 10:39

So still no comment on the Tories and GRC's or Maternity services?

You don't give a fuck about women and babies as they don't come under your definition of "womens rights"

How do you know what i care about? i'm just not a single issue zealot like many who can't bring themselves to criticise the Tories.
