How do you feel about people watching horror films on flights?

Namely horror movies though I guess can also apply to movies with graphic or sexual scenes!
On an iPad in standard class (so not in a cosy business class corner 😂)

Had a run in with a woman on a flight today over this so am interested to see what others think!

As long at it’s not illegal content and headphones are used then it’s no-one else business. Divert your eyes people..

MonsteraMama · 16/11/2023 17:39

I watched Final Destination on a plane once, the man next to me went "you can't be serious?" but ended up watching it with me and enjoying it, and suggesting Snakes on a Plane next.

Woman should've minded her own business, no one made her look at what you were watching.

hopeishere · 16/11/2023 17:39

Horror fine. Porn maybe not.

Borth · 16/11/2023 17:41

As long as headphones are used, I don’t see the issue.

mynameiscalypso · 16/11/2023 17:41

I would have no thought about it all. People can watch whatever they want so long as they have headphones in. I mean, I'd judge someone for watching porn but wouldn't do anything about it.

Agree with this.

It's a bit nosey to look at other people's screens.

SirChenjins · 16/11/2023 17:42

As long as the screen is angled so that I can’t see it and they’re wearing headphones then there’s not much I can do or say.

Porn - no way.

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 16/11/2023 17:42

Tbh it's more annoying when someone is watching a comedy and repeatedly laughing out loud.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 16/11/2023 17:43

Wouldn’t bother me.

Kayte198999 · 16/11/2023 17:43

I hate horror movies but it wouldn't bother me because I can just look away from a small screen

peppermintcrisp · 16/11/2023 17:44

When people recline their seat it is off-putting. I had to watch Emma Thompson having sex for what seemed like most of my long - haul flight - excruciating! I would have been so embarrassed to watch that film in public.

WeekWeekWeek · 16/11/2023 17:45

Were you the horror-watcher, OP?

Someone exerting control over another adult to that extent clearly has issues.

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2023 17:47

their is horror and horror abd it depends on who was sitting by you I guess

TheKnittedCharacter · 16/11/2023 17:47

I wouldn't think twice. I never notice what other people are watching. They tend to edit sex scenes on in-flight movies, don't they? (Although having sat through Harry Styles and an excruciatingly bad oral sex scene, maybe they don't).

I watched 'The Cabin in the Woods' or something on a recent long flight. I did notice that the blurb on the selection screen said 'not recommended if you're a nervous flyer' or something like that. It did depict planes falling out of the sky at one point - so I hope no one was looking at my screen! 😂

Perimama · 16/11/2023 17:53

I am mindful if there are any young children near me. If I thought they could see my screen, I wouldn't watch a horror or anything with a full on sex scene.

EdgarsTale · 16/11/2023 17:55

I couldn’t care less.

Would you watch a full on sex scene if an adult was next to you?

minipie · 16/11/2023 17:59

I don’t understand the angles here. I only get a good view of my neighbour’s screen if I’m reclined. I’m only reclined if I’m trying to sleep. If I’m trying to sleep then my eyes are shut, so I won’t see it anyway.

Basically either close your eyes or put your seat up and the problem goes away.

No, I guess I wouldn't. I didn't mean porn (a big no no on the plane!), but I wouldn't watch a regular movie that was particularly raunchy

TomatoSandwiches · 16/11/2023 18:03

I wouldn't be bothered so long as you used headphones.

Quartz2208 · 16/11/2023 18:03

I don’t think it was on the seat iPad, in which case it is what the airline deems suitable so nit a problem (although you can see when walking up an aisle). I think this is on personal iPad

Cheeesus · 16/11/2023 18:04

I’d rather not see it, so if it was right next to me I might be a bit put out.

Love this! (My rom com writer head is jumping at the romance possibilities 😅)

Harry Styles giving really bad oral sex???? Shock What film was this?

I watched The Menu when I was last on a long haul flight, that was pretty gruesome but nobody complained.

What don’t you get about the angles? If you’re sitting next to someone who has their tray down and their iPad propped up on it then it’s going to be difficult not to catch sight of something at some point during the hours you’re watching the film. You can’t expect people around you to spend the flight with the eyes shut or staring straight ahead and not moving to avoid seeing what you have on your screen when there are literally thousands of other films you could have downloaded. You’re sharing a limited space with others - exercise some consideration for them.
