How often do you weigh yourself?

I should do it once a week with being on a weight loss programme but I have not done it since maybe summer and have found it scary and liberating at the same time in terms of not getting ‘obsessed’ by the number on scales.

Never. If my clothes feel tight I eat less crap until they feel comfortable. But mainly I seem to maintain because they fit fine 90% of the time.
new year and after a holiday they are usually feeling a bit snug but a couple of weeks of being sensible and not boozing every day gets it under control quick enough!

Never. I don't have scales. I don't see the point.

Similar to some pps, I've had an ED when I was younger, so I don't allow myself to use the scales. Haven't weighed myself in 20 years.

When I go to the GP, and they weigh me, I tell them not to tell me the number.

Under ten times in my whole life and all in medical appointments.

Last time was over a decade ago. I haven’t a clue on how much I weigh.

Thursa · 14/11/2023 03:02

Monday mornings. Though I’ve missed the last two and I’m dreading getting back on.

A few years ago I weighed myself every morning for a month. I was never the same weight two days in a row, it was up and down daily. At the end of the month I had managed to lose 5 pounds.

InTheCheapSeats · 14/11/2023 03:05

Never. The only time I'm weighed is at an occasional doctors appointment.
The only time the weighing scales get used is to weigh our suitcases prior to going on holiday.

Never. I can see I'm fat 😆 I don't really care to be honest. I eat well , so a moderate amount of exercise but just can't shift the belly. I could if put the effort in but I've got better things to do.

I threw my scales away when we moved house. I just go by my clothes now

For everyone that never weighs themselves, what do you do when you need to enter your weight for something, Im thinking most recently my travel insurance needed my height and weight for example

jay55 · 14/11/2023 06:54

Every day. I'm not actively dieting right now but don't want to undo what I've lost so far.

I don’t think I’ve ever needed to weigh myself for my travel insurance or anything else that I can think of!

I don't recall ever having to do that. Besides, if I had to weigh myself I could. Or I could guess.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/11/2023 07:51

Travel insurance only really wants to know if you have a very high or possibly very low bmi.

Presumably this doesn't apply to most people who never weigh themselves and if it does, they'll find themselves up against the small print they've agreed to and if they want to claim and they've not disclosed that their BMI is 15 or 45 and the insurance company considers this relevant, the claim could be refused.

I dont think its a case of they only want to know if its high or low, its more that they only care if its very low or very high

but how do they know if its very high or very low if the weight and height isnt put in. I cant remember now at what stage it asked me that question, I renew it yearly.

I don't think I've ever been asked for my height and weight on my travel insurance Confused If I was then I'd weigh myself then.

Never been asked. And if I was I'd pop along to Boots where they have a set of accurate scales.

I wasn't asked for either mine or DP's when I got insurance in July.
