At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting up and dressed?

I'm still in my PJs in bed, I've spent the morning reading. I don't feel 100%, I'm not always this lazy.

It feels pointless getting up and dressed now, and a waste of clean and fresh clothes. It feels half the day has gone so I may as well stay in PJs all day.

At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting dressed?

Yep.

That’s what confuses me. What hobbies, activities change so radically with the seasons that you are never out after 4.30?

Any that require, or are preferable in daylight hours. Hillwalking, woodland walks, cycling with young children, paddleboarding on the canal, foraging, kitchen gardening, helping out on a community farm.

Fair. But can you see that it’s extremely unusual for a whole family to have only these things as hobbies, and to have work that allows shorter hours (or even just a later start) in winter? For most people the ‘day’ runs from about 7 to about 11, regardless of time of year and they’ll be busy doing stuff for large chunks of that.

Yep.

If that’s in reply to me, I have to tell you that, in fact, you didn’t sound lovely at all. I wasn’t angry. I wasn’t abusive. And you declare me deranged. I’m not reporting it as a personal attack so people can see it, but it is, isn’t it?

My work doesn't have shorter hours? It must have been someone else who mentioned that. I also never said we didn't leave the house after dark, maybe I replied to a post that said that, I don't remember. My older one is in scouting so that runs at night. I think I am using day to mean day and you are using it to mean 'day' (day plus evening before sleep).

We are doing stuff in the evening, though I do sleep about an hour longer there is still plenty of after dark awake time when the day is over. We just do mostly indoor activities when it is dark so there are definite seasonal shifts.

If I'm not going out. Just bath and change b4 bed.

echt · 12/11/2023 21:13

I always get up and always get dressed, but then I have a dog that needs walking.

I would struggle to get enough morning light before 10am in my pyjamas. I find that extremely important for my wellbeing through the darker months. Others may manage without it though.

Same here. I need to get outdoors, it's a must especially in the winter months with short days with fewer daylight hours. I need that boost from the sun.

A crime? Waste?
Utter nonsense.
doing what you want to do with your day off isn’t criminal. If illness or inclination mean what yo7 really want to do is stay in bed, that’s not a waste either. Self care isn’t criminal or wasteful.

Clumsily worded on my part. I personally would have found it a crime lying in bed on a beautiful day like today. Others I appreciate need time to rest in bed all day or lounge around.

Ah. It’s not beautiful today where I am. It’s been tipping it down and freezing all day
Still wouldn’t think it was a crime to stay in bed if I needed a rest regardless though.

My parents are in their 80s (82/87) and I have never known them not get dressed - and then today I pop in at 2 and both are in their pyjamas and giggling like school kids as they decided to have a pyjama day. It's the cutest thing ever. They decided they'd never done it and as it's such a miserable day it was time.

They are normally up and dressed by 8 at the latest every day.

That is adorable

Newestname002 · 15/11/2023 02:16

There are days I don't bother to get dressed at all. I've got garments on and if I have to open my front door (usually deliveries) I just throw an Oodi over those and nobody bats an eyelash- not that I'd care if they did.. 🌹

xogossipgirlxo · 15/11/2023 02:19

No such point in my day🥶 Unless I’m unwell. I just need to dress up, brush my hair and at least apply skincare not to feel horrible. My mood depends a lot on the way I look.

Catsmere · 15/11/2023 04:03

I don't have any way of finding out. I have to get up and dressed because I have to get my mother up and dressed and bring her to my unit for breakfast, plus I have to go to the community kitchen to collect our dinners.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 15/11/2023 05:55

I don’t think I have ever spent the day in pyjamas unless I’ve been ill but I see no problem in doing so if that’s what you feel like doing.
I do have a dog so need to go out at least twice a day, regardless of the weather. I do like getting outside for some fresh air regardless of the weather.

Lachimolala · 15/11/2023 08:10

Well I love spending all day in pyjamas. I do it at least twice a month when the kids are at their dads, usually on a Sunday.

Echobelly · 15/11/2023 08:12

I always get up and dressed even if I feel awful - or at least dressed. Being in my PJs for too long makes me feel tired and grotty, and worse if ill, so I always dress even if I'm just going to be lying on the sofa.

HardcoreLadyType · 15/11/2023 08:14

I never feel like this. I always feel better for getting up and having a bath, even if I just lie down again after.

Whodhaveem · 15/11/2023 08:35

So popping waterproofs over PJ’s to walk the dogs and see to the horses and then diving back into bed upon completion is a no then…?! 🤔

Asking for a friend.
