At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting up and dressed?

I'm still in my PJs in bed, I've spent the morning reading. I don't feel 100%, I'm not always this lazy.

It feels pointless getting up and dressed now, and a waste of clean and fresh clothes. It feels half the day has gone so I may as well stay in PJs all day.

At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting dressed?

OP posts:
BitofaStramash · 12/11/2023 11:32

That only happens if I'm not well.

EarringsandLipstick · 12/11/2023 11:25

It's only 11:24! How is that 'half the day'?

You've had a relaxing morning especially as not feeling well. That's good

Now, plenty of time to get up & dressed & make a plan for the day

Almost. 12 midday would be half the day.

CateringPanic · 12/11/2023 11:34

If it’s the weekend and I’m not going anywhere I rarely get properly dressed at all. I will shower and put on clean pyjamas/joggers though which is a half way house for me. As you say, no point wasting clothes!

lemonyfox · 12/11/2023 11:37

I'm still in pjs, but I'm ill. We're going out for a family meal later on so I'll need to get dressed, otherwise I'd stay in these pjs all day.

I would have a shower before bed and put clean ones on though, wouldn't sleep again in these ones.

EarringsandLipstick · 12/11/2023 11:38

Well, in mathematical terms it clearly depends on when your day starts & finishes.

Let's say 8 am to 10 pm is a fairly standard day for most people - 12 isn't half the day, or close to it.

In linguistic terms, 'half the day' implies more of the usable time of the day is gone than remaining - that's really not the case either. In terms of 'daytime' meaning an opportunity to go out & about, OP still had a good 6 hours.

No way is the day half over!

namechange1986 · 12/11/2023 11:38

I will never understand why there's such judgement on here for people who stay in pjs. Baffling why people think they are superior because they change their clothes.

'Ohhh I would feel like a disease ridden gremlin if I ever contemplated staying in pjs after 5am. Heaven forbid!!'

'No I have a 45 mile hike done before sunrise and then it's time for my swim across the channel'

Just fuck off with your faux horror and superiority complex.

I find it a bit weird to not exercise every day, even if just a decent walk, unless very unwell.

It's hardly weird. Disabilities, chronic illnesses. I don't think most people exercise every single day

CadillacCataract · 12/11/2023 11:40

I’m still in pjs. I’ve been up since 7.30am, but doing laundry and housework in between coffee, toast, bit of telly, but of mindless internet surfing. I’ll shower & dress (scruffily!) soon to nip to the shops.

If I’m having a proper lazy day, I’ll shower and put on fresh pjs at some point so I can bask comfortably in my decision to do nothing!

mycatsanutter · 12/11/2023 11:40

Everyone is different , but I couldn't stay in PJ's all day . I never have a day where I don't leave the house for starters and also my house is way too cold !

EarringsandLipstick · 12/11/2023 11:41

Just fuck off with your faux horror and superiority complex.

Geez. Calm down!

It's nothing go do with that.

I'd feel crap physically & mentally if I didn't wash / shower, and change into clothes from those I've slept in. What those will be & when I do it, depends on the plan for the day.

It's answering a question asked by OP, not judging anyone else?

I equally feel bad if I don't get outside or if I have an unproductive day. That's what affects me - not everyone will be the same.

You're very easily riled.

Have just got in from a 2hr ramble with family. Couldn't imagine being in PJs all day 😂

Can’t imagine it? Really? What a strange internal life you must have.
Well done for going for a little walk while other people are having a rest though.

SirChenjins · 12/11/2023 11:43

Unless I’m really ill and need to stay in bed I’ll always get showered and dressed - helps me to feel better physically and mentally. I hate being in my jammies all day.

KeeefBurtain · 12/11/2023 11:44

We’re having a pj day today. It’s a regular thing. No activities on a sunday, plus it’s piddling down.
we watched the remembrance parade from the window, will have lunch then watch films all afternoon. After dinner will be bath and bedtime for the little ones and DND for us big ones. Love lazy Sundays look forward to them.

we also wear PJs on Christmas Day

StarShipControl · 12/11/2023 11:45

What do you mean there's no point? It's not even midday.
You could get up, throw some clothes on and go out for a bit, or just have a shower, freshen up and get changed.

If, however, you fancy a day in your pjs just relaxing then that's fine too. But make it a choice rather than feel bad about it.

RuhRohRaggy · 12/11/2023 11:46

There's no shame to having a pj/bed day if your body needs one. Just try not to let it become a habit.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 12/11/2023 11:47

At no point. I never stay in bed later than 8:30 though, and I don't hang around in my pyjamas whatever time I get up. I could if I wanted to, but I don't like it!

cardibach · 12/11/2023 11:48

Pipistrellus · 12/11/2023 11:32

If we are counting midnight to midnight. I think most people have their in bed asleep hours largely after midnight though, or are you saying an average say 15 hour active day should run from 4.30am - 7.30pm?
When people talk about their ‘day’ they are counting from when they get up…

WeighDownOnMe · 12/11/2023 11:48

Never, unless I'm really really unwell.

I feel gross and sluggish all day if I don't have a shower, proper clothes on, make up done.

I don't know why, it's just the way it makes me feel.

You are including the night with the day there. Sunset is about 16:30 here so you are quite limited after that in what you can do. We always get out earlier in the winter because of the short hours of daylight, at the playground at 9 today.

WhenPushComesToShove · 12/11/2023 11:49

I have been know to throw off pjs at the end of the day and then shower and have fresh pjs before bed 😳😆

Crunchymum · 12/11/2023 11:50

I have usually decided in advance if we're having a day in so I'll know we aren't getting dressed. Although it's a rarity that all of us have a day in together.

Today we've had shopping delivered so I threw on yesterday's clothes but I'm now showered and in clean leggings / jumper (I'd happily wear what I'm wearing out of the house but I have no plans to go out today)

DP and girls are dressed as they are going for a cycle / to the park but eldest had a hectic day yesterday so he's having a PJ day. He'll have a bath and clean PJ's later.

We have pretty busy schedules (kids are out 8.30am - 6.30pm x4 days a week and have activities on Saturday) so I always encourage a PJ day.

TL;DR we decide upon waking whether to bother getting dressed.

Haven't seen one post on here judging the OP, just giving their own opinion, as was asked for.

I'm up at 6am every day as I just can't lie long in bed and have early risers. In bed by 8pm, often asleep just before 9pm. If I was getting up at midday it doesn't allow much time to do very much in daylight hours 🤷🏻 we are all different though.

marcopront · 12/11/2023 11:53

I'm in a different time zone and it is nearly 3 pm here.
I've had a very busy couple of days and I am exhausted. I'm still in PJs but doing some work. I will have a shower soon and get dressed as I have to go out.

Never? I find that really odd (though my dad was the same. I found him odd too in that respect). You never have a really busy day which ends late with a post-midnight bed time that leaves you wanting to sleep longer or just lie there even if awake? Are never reading a good book you want to stay cosy to read? Never have a leisurely cuppa in bed?
Some people’s lives really puzzle me. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with it, but I genuinely can’t get my head round a life so different from my own.
