At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting up and dressed?

I'm still in my PJs in bed, I've spent the morning reading. I don't feel 100%, I'm not always this lazy.

It feels pointless getting up and dressed now, and a waste of clean and fresh clothes. It feels half the day has gone so I may as well stay in PJs all day.

At what point of the day do you think there's no point getting dressed?

Today is passing down with rain and cols, can't imagine many ppl stupid enough to go for a walk today.

Hardly fun and pleasurable is it?

Those of us with dogs walk in all weathers - we have to. Good waterproof clothing and footwear keeps you dry and even getting outside for a while on poor weather helps with your physical and mental health. Hardly stupid - the opposite in fact.

Bbq1 · 12/11/2023 16:23

I am currently very unwell, receiving hospital treatment and in a lot of pain. I have showered and dressed every day bar one. I have literally just got out of the shower and dressed in clean, loose and comfy clothes. I am so tired I have to work up it but I know i will feel so much better afterwards. More human somehow.

Bbq1 · 12/11/2023 16:27

Pp whose family wears pj's on a Sunday snd Christmas Day, i have a genuine question. Do you all wash/shower as normal in the morning and change into fresh pj's or wear the same pj's all day and overnight until the following morning?

Same for many with small children. They go crazy inside all day. We were at the playground at 9 after a 6am wakeup. Small child in puddlesuit - it was only the odd sprinkle of rain at the time but the play equipment was wet.

I'd call daylight hours the day, the time I would do activities outside. I'm not asleep after dark but I'd still call that the evening or night. I guess different people just call things different things. My routines are shortened in the winter a bit, we sleep longer too.

That's my view too @Pipistrellus I don't do much outside at night. Always at home unless exceptional circumstances when dark outside.

I use the daylight hours each and every day to my full advantage and for me that means getting up very early to savour it in all weathers. Although I prefer to profit from the good weather (today was absolutely glorious).

Vettrianofan · 12/11/2023 17:23

@SirChenjins has it in one. No such thing as bad weather.

Saturday night bath/shower and into clean pjs, stay in them all Sunday then bath/shower Sunday night and into clean pjs again.

I have four DC and I have had them kitted out over all those years in weather appropriate clothing and get outdoors no matter the weather. Often at 9am any day of the week for a few hours at a time in play parks. You just get on with it. Have been up at 6am daily for years. You don't think about it.

I sympathise with the pregnancy/baby tiredness.
but really? Shorter routine in winter? Work day is shorter? No hobbies? My choir/band/book club/evening class all run in winter.

I play piano at home in winter more than in summer months, no need to venture out after 4pm really once DC are in from school. It's time to eat early and get settled down for the evening for some of us....not really any different to those who lounge around all morning in PJs. I tend to relax at the other end of the day when it's dark outside there's no pressing reason to venture out. We are all different as several people have pointed out. Jammies on any time from 6pm🤣

It's been dry but cold where I am so really too nice to not get outside. It would have been a crime to waste the day in bed tbh.

We are all different, and I didn’t say it was wrong. I’m just completely surprised that you never have the need to leave the house after 4 in winter. Totally alien to me. And to most, I would imagine. I’m all for the early (and late) pjs when obligations allow.

A crime? Waste?
Utter nonsense.
doing what you want to do with your day off isn’t criminal. If illness or inclination mean what yo7 really want to do is stay in bed, that’s not a waste either. Self care isn’t criminal or wasteful.

Pipistrellus · 12/11/2023 14:38

We certainly have a shorter routine in winter. I probably sleep an hour longer. There's just less day so we aren't outside after work at the playground or in the woods or on the common, or sitting or working in the garden.

I doubt most people’s routine is dictated by daylight. Work doesn’t start later. School doesn’t. After school clubs/ adult hobbies aren’t earlier. You must live a pretty insular life to have a radically different winter routine.

cardibach · 12/11/2023 19:52

GrandHighPoohbah · 12/11/2023 13:49

Unless I was ill, I don't think I could eat lunch in my Pj's.

What would stop you? Seriously. Body is covered with fabric either way.

No, we have work and school. It's evening activities that change with the seasons.

Pipistrellus · 12/11/2023 19:57

Some evening activities are shifted to the weekend for example, as it is dark after work. We do a lot of outdoors activities.

At no point would I think I would just not get up that day. I'm in my late forties and this has never happened to me.

You are aware you can get up and not change out of PJs? A pj day doesn’t necessarily happen in bed…

cardibach · 12/11/2023 20:11

AuntieMarys · 12/11/2023 13:07

I would feel skanky. 😄
I like to be up and showered by 9am at the very latest and make the most of the day.

Bit what if making the most of this particular day means reading and tv watching and generally resting? R and R is not a waste of time.

Pipistrellus · 12/11/2023 20:13

I would struggle to get enough morning light before 10am in my pyjamas. I find that extremely important for my wellbeing through the darker months. Others may manage without it though.

cardibach · 12/11/2023 20:15

SirChenjins · 12/11/2023 13:58

But you’re not sleeping in lounge wear or joggers - it’s the thought of staying in jammies that you’ve sweated (and farted and all sorts) into during the night which you then stay in all day that many of us find grim.

Do you not sweat and fart in the day then? Shouldn’t you be changing clothes on the hour at least if that make you unhygienic and skanky?

That’s what confuses me. What hobbies, activities change so radically with the seasons that you are never out after 4.30?

Of course I do - but I don’t stay in those clothes for 24 hours or get into them without showering first. Obviously.

What’s with all the multiple posts - has this thread hit a nerve or something? You’re taking it all very personally.

Makes no odds to me. I put warmer lounging stuff on when I get up in winter. But this obsession with it being unhygienic not to wear different clothes every 12 hours is weird.

Your odds are of absolutely no interest. Chill, you’re sounding deranged.
