Things people do that make you cringe?

People posting photos of their holiday on social media with a caption like “this is how my Monday morning is looking”. Like calm down Joanne, you’ll be back in the office by next Monday.

Middle management telling me they pay my wages.

People thinking that are different and edgy because they wear Dr Martens (I do still love the boots though)

OP posts:

Women who in conversation refer to their husband as hubby rather than his name or just as my husband. Makes my teeth grind.

Its5656 · 10/11/2023 20:25

Adults who go to Disney World without children. Of all the places in the world that you could visit you choose a children's theme park!?!
Also people who exaggerate every story they tell you, or just outright make shit up. I work with a woman who does this and it baffles me.

Why would it cause uproar on here pray?

Past experience of dozens of posters coming up with numerous reasons why it’s perfectly normal and acceptable to eat the snack/food etc before reaching the till.

When men wear really tight trousers.

Edited

When women wear leggings that show camel toe / moose hoof (depending how bad it is) too 😬

Both are 😷

Echobelly · 10/11/2023 20:27

Watching people pull multiple ridiculous faces trying to look 'sexy' while attempting to take a selfie in public

Those boys/men you sometimes see (well I do), doing a wheelie on a bike down the street while wearing this really serious po-faced expression. Mate, you are doing a wheelie, you should be looking joyful, or like you're showing off, but this 'I can do a wheelie but I'm well hard' look is so ridiculous!

Head to foot clothes covered in designer logos - I saw a bloke on the tube where everything head to foot said BALENCIAGA all over it. Expensive, but not classy.

I know a primary school teacher who posts this incorrectly every time on Facebook.

When my sister in law was telling her 6 month old off for grabbing my child’s hands, ‘careful … you’ll hurt her’ as if a 6 month old knows what you’re talking about

On social media/the written word:
"This one..."
"I was today years old when..."
"So blessed..."
Effusive outpourings about how wonderful their wife/husband/child is, on a daily basis
Spouting conspiracy theory or woo bollocks that can be disproven in 2.1 seconds of googling
In every single photo of them, they're pouting
Humiliating/embarrassing pictures of their child(ren)
Ardent patriotism which is thinly disguised racism

Personal contact
Speaking with their mouth full
Chewing with their mouth open
Enthusing loudly about every single mouthful of food/every single thing they see/hear/smell
Saying "I seen"/"Haitch"/"Seagull"/"Should of" (and any 'of' that isn't)/"I myself think..."
Blathering on about the Royal Family
Filming everything and uploading it to social media

Generally out and about
Bad manners - not standing aside when people want to pass, not saying 'please' and 'thankyou'
Overly loud people
Drunk people

I don't think I like people very much.

Curfewgull1 · 10/11/2023 20:31

When people refer to their family on social media as ‘Team [surname]’. Just naff.

Newtonianmechanics · 10/11/2023 20:35

People saying ‘do you know what I mean?’ multiple times in a conversation

Yes and also ' you know' every 2 sentences.

TheShellBeach · 10/11/2023 19:49

Eh?
What's wrong with this?

@TheShellBeach

sime people are under the illusion that shopping trollies get wash & dried each evening & put to bed in a sterile warehouse & not climbed all over by rats, fixes & all manner of other things & pissed all over.

a toddlers shoes are the very least of your shopping trolley worries..

Yes! I have a friend I've known for 12 years, we've been on holidays together (with our families) yet she still refers to him as my husband/hubby. I do know his name! Grin

People who chop up spaghetti before eating it.

I break it up before cooking it. Does that upset you too?

Cattenberg · 10/11/2023 20:36

StiggyZardust · 10/11/2023 20:19

People who chop up spaghetti before eating it.

I know this isn’t the done thing in Italy, but I always do it. I think it’s so much nicer and less messy.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 10/11/2023 20:36

People, when offered sugar for their tea or coffee, who say "no thanks...I'm sweet enough!"

YouJustDoYou · 10/11/2023 20:36

Newtonianmechanics · 10/11/2023 20:35

Yes and also ' you know' every 2 sentences.

I had a friend who did this. Every other was "you know, when I'm really smart, you know, and I did this, you know, and it was like this, you know".

Also, "fur babies". Hate that phrase.

Mumaway · 10/11/2023 20:37

Cringe is saying 'would of', die inside is sniffing very snottily🤢

People who don't indicate at roundabouts...
Dps who narrate their trip out to their dc...
Dc who aren't strapped in the buggy properly.
Ddogs hanging out of car windows... mate if it falls out it will land either on my windscreen or under my car...
Grown ups who drink squash...

2 is encouraged for infants’ and toddlers’ development. Parents can’t really win sometimes. If they talk to their kids, some say it’s performance parenting and if they don’t, some say they aren’t engaged enough.

Cattenberg · 10/11/2023 20:41

Germans putting towels on the sun beds ( despite the signs saying not to in 3 languages)

It isn’t just the Germans, but yeah, they do it a lot. I suggest that for a first offence, the towel gets folded up and put on the ground, away from the sun beds. For a second offence, the towel gets chucked in the pool. It’s the only way they’ll learn.
