What food do you hate?

Inspired by another thread.

Could be anything.

I ant actually think of many foods that I dislike, but I am quite particular about how things are cooked.

The main things I don't like are meat or seafood that I'm not used to. I'm not veggie and love meat and fish but certain things like duck, squid, venison I couldn't eat.

Canned strawberries
lamb
liver
olives
aubergine
oysters
runny eggs
ryvita

BeverleyMacker · 10/11/2023 19:47

Never tried it as I can't get past the smell but goats cheese...smells goat-y 🤢🤢🤢

JustKen · 10/11/2023 19:48

Again, mushrooms. Also Truffles. Had a bit in a pasta once and I really didn't like it.
Offal
Mustard
Some flat fish like skate.
Oysters. I don't understand why they are supposed to be a delicacy. Cockles & winkles too.
Really spicy food.

Things I won’t eat:
spam
cheap sausages
prawn crackers
poppadoms

everything else is good!!

I’ve got coeliac disease (last 6 years) so I can’t eat a bunch of stuff I LOVE like croissants, sourdough bread, normal pizza etc but I would if I could

Does spam still count as food? 🤣

Offal.

I used to eat it a lot (liver, kidneys, ox heart, tongue) in my childhood (very cheap source of protein) and also ensured I ate liver weekly when I left home. Now I can't think of anything worse - unless it's pigs feet. 🌹

evtheria · 10/11/2023 20:20

@SiobhanSharpe I've eaten sago worm larvae, but I still stand by my original answers of mushrooms and mayo.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 10/11/2023 20:22

I eat most things, but orange peel is revolting. Can’t eat liver or kidney either.

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/11/2023 21:02

Cucumber. Natural yogurt. Cottage cheese. Eclairs and choux pastry. Cakes with buttercream icing. Licourice Allsorts. Tequila.

YouWontHearTheLastOfIt · 10/11/2023 21:06

Thing I'd never eat -

any offal
shellfish
lamb
pork
ribs or wings

Borborygmus · 10/11/2023 21:23

Lemon
Lime
Mustard
Turkish Delight

muddlingthrou · 10/11/2023 21:25

Dill 🤢 it fills my whole head with its scent and makes things I love - seafood, fish etc - completely inedible to me. It lurks in unexpected places, waiting to ruin my day!

BoobyDazzler · 10/11/2023 21:28

Dil it tastes disgusting!!

Mayonnaise - slop

Bananas- I don’t mind the taste it that texture!! No thank you.

WrinkledCucumber · 10/11/2023 21:29

Baked beans 🤮 Ham 🤮

CeeJay81 · 10/11/2023 21:35

Baked Beans
Blue Cheese
Olives
Oysters

Fifthtimelucky · 10/11/2023 23:36

I will happily eat most things but don't like:

  • Olives
  • Pickled onions and gherkins
  • Oysters, Jellied eels and whelks,
  • Kippers and rollmop herrings
  • Brain, heart and tripe
  • Black pudding, salami, and pepperoni
  • Anything with an aniseed flavour
  • Mustard horseradish sauce
  • Mint sauce on lamb
  • Tinned tomatoes eaten as a vegetable (absolutely fine when cooked as part of a sauce)
Chicory

I also won't eat heavily processed food such as

  • Spam, pork luncheon meat etc
  • plasticky slices of ham and cheese that bear no resemblance to the real thing,
  • Frankfurters or sludgy anaemic looking sausages
  • Snacks like pork scratchings
  • fish paste (don't know if it still exists but in the 1960s and 70s it used to come in small jars and was used as a sandwich filling)
  • Instant Whip type puddings,
  • cream in an aerosol
  • Haribos
Fifthtimelucky · 10/11/2023 23:47

Forgot to include radishes on my list!

TomatoSandwiches · 10/11/2023 23:51

There's a few since childhood I don't like but a new one is these lentil BBQ flavoured crisps they are so so sweet, nothing savoury about them, such a waste of money and food.

Midsummernightsdreaming · 10/11/2023 23:59

Whelks - singularly the most revolting things I've ever tried. Totally ruin a seafood platter imo.

caringcarer · 11/11/2023 00:31

Brussel Sprouts are the worst, I'm allergic to mushrooms so I hate those and I'm always worried when I eat out there might be some lurking in a sauce. I also dislike 🥦, and black pudding.

Catsmere · 11/11/2023 01:17

Any sort of curry. Loathe the smell and I hate anything spicy. Curried anything - eggs, sausages, you name it. Made the mistake of trying butter chicken from the dining room recently. Zero flavour, still hot enough to be near-painful in my mouth, and the smell just from reheating it! Took hours to clear the air.

Mayonnaise. Way to ruin a sandwich or salad.

Tapioca. Revolting texture.

Quite a few others, too - Brussels sprouts, any shellfish, mustard ...

SinnerBoy · 11/11/2023 05:12

Porridge. I've never liked it and remember the tantrum I had, aged 3, when I saw some black specks in it and screaming, "I hate porridge!" Before that, my mam used to make me finish it, I'd be there for ages and my sisters would be off playing.

Bananas, I think it's the slimy texture, it makes me think of slugs.

As an adult, a load of us went to a cabin in Kielder and my sister's pal convinced me that I didn't like porridge because I'd never had it made properly. She put fucking bananas in it, I tried it and had toast. She was highly offended!

Mrsjayy · 11/11/2023 06:56

I also hate porridge and I don't think I've eaten it as an adult.
As soon as the clocks changed it was porridge for breakfast it used to just lie in my stomach all day was horrible.

Tessisme · 11/11/2023 07:05

Paté.
Risotto.
Kale.
Small prawns. I don't mind the bigger ones though.
Spinach.
Offal.
Lamb.

Tessisme · 11/11/2023 07:07

And cottage cheese. I've tried, but no.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 11/11/2023 08:47

Cream, goat’s cheese, fennel.
