I'm not in the least bit surprised by Cruella's resignation letter. It's full of the bitterness and revenge that was expected. She was always bound to throw her teddies out of the pram.

To me it comes across as a toddler stamping their feet saying 'it's not fair!!'

It's not a good look but that's nothing new for her. Time to move on.

tell me - did Truss accept the full ‘redundancy’ pay for her weeks in office?

Are they trying to take the piss? Working people need food banks to be able to eat, but we think they should be paid less.

From the billionaires government!

Fuck off.

I know this an extraordinarily naive question but how would they justify leaving the ECHR without a mandate? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t in their 2019 manifesto, was it?

In her head it's fully justifiable to abandon all our rights just so that she could get her batshit Rwanda scheme through. Yes, that's right, to get a few refugees onto a plane and bolster her political ambitions, she felt we should all give up a defined right to life, right to freedom, free speech, freedom of thought, family life, right to education, right to a fair trial, right not to be discriminated against, etc etc.

*I have always striven to give voice to the quiet majority”

Ah that will please the shy ones on MN....

What quiet majority? She could only get 20 of her Tory colleagues to her support meeting in the House of Commons, and 8 of those couldn't be bothered to turn up in person and logged in by Zoom. I'm better a fair number of those had their cameras turned off, too.

Looks like she’s going to say more after the Supreme Court ruling. She’s going to be the gift that keeps on giving.

If they lose, she's going to say that it's all Sunak's fault for not changing the law in her favour.

For a lawyer, she seems incredibly lacking in basic understanding of the rule of law. Maybe that's why she was notoriously such a bad lawyer when she was in practice.

Very apt.

Also, her resignation letter and the chats on WhatsApp between her supporters show how they are already setting the scene to blame Sunak for when they lose the next election.

It's not going to be their fault at all.

Choux · 15/11/2023 03:14

Let's not call it her resignation letter. It was her response to being sacked. She did not resign although she pushed him to the point where he had to sack her.

This is really annoying me. JRM was on the news yesterday saying he's never seen a resignation letter like it.

That will be because it wasn't a resignation letter, you truth-twisting toad. This is so typical of the Tory party these days. Lie, lie, lie to make people think what you want them to think.

True - is there nothing they won't lie or distort

IClaudine · 15/11/2023 08:04

Yes, the media keep referring to it as a resignation letter too. Really annoying.

bombastix · 15/11/2023 08:07

Supreme Court today. 10 am hand down I would think, and the Government have already had the decision on embargo.

Passepartoute · 15/11/2023 08:09

Quite apart from the "resignation letter" nonsense, he's also never seen a being sacked letter like it because most people have more dignity and also more regard for the truth. It's so easy for Braverman to claim she had the answer to all the country's ills but was prevented from implementing it by that nasty Sunak. The reality is that, if he were to say "You're right Suella, I'm reappointing you and giving you a free hand so that you can put all your wonderful initiatives into effect" she would go into total panic mode at being forced to come good on her promises.

bombastix · 15/11/2023 08:10

But maybe more significant is the drop in inflation; that is huge.

Sunak actually met his own target. A small triumph though how much the Government did is highly debatable.

Inflation was always going to come down during this period, almost entirely due to the drop in fuel prices. Utterly hilarious that he is taking credit for this.

bombastix · 15/11/2023 08:16

Yes agree! But it's goodish news. Sunak will take credit wherever he can.

IClaudine · 15/11/2023 08:44

Food inflation is still high, but the Tories will use the overall drop to justify cutting benefits in real terms.

It's good news that people are paying a bit less to heat their houses but fuel and food costs are still punishingly high for many people, as are housing costs and this "news" is just a distraction from that.

DuncinToffee · 15/11/2023 08:49

Inflation down?

NEW: Thought the cost-of-living crisis was on the wane? Not according to this disburbing @CitizensAdvice data, via @ft @FTFLIC @amyborrett.

Why? Housing costs, frozen benefits, end of energy bill support.

A winter crisis looms.

I don't dismiss that this partial fall in inflation doesn't resolve CoL for many, but if you are Rishi Sunak this morning you are going to be pleased; because your target voters in the blue wall will be pleased about mortgage rates to come. This is what the Times leads on today.

To summarise, the #Rwanda scheme is the Prime Minister's priority, but it is also not that important if the gov't lose, because there's lots of other things it's doing, and of course it has a plan B, it just can't tell us what that plan B is. Hmm. ~AA

Do you think that is because many people don't understand inflation?

They think Inflation down, prices down

OP posts:
bombastix · 15/11/2023 09:13

Obviously it doesn't mean prices down! But Sunak will still be happy with this result. A box ticked

countrygirl99 · 15/11/2023 09:17

@bombastix I've been horrified to realise that is just what a lot of people do think. Some of them in fairly senior positions. Scarey really.
