I have put a spare, electric blanket on top of my sofa cushions, throw over the top tucking it in and also have my electric throw over me. Currently sat here in my little, heated cocoon marvelling at my own genius. In your face British gas, I won't be freezing my toes off this year, pahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣

No real point to this thread, just thought I'd share to inspire others.

You are a legend!!!

A luxury tip is putting the hair dryer nozzle under your duvet before getting in to bed. So toasty.

I've been doing that since I was a child 🤣🤣🤣 Blown up a few hairdryers over the years 🙄😬

I turned my electric blanket into a onesie, and put it on a battery.

TheBunnyLover · 09/11/2023 20:13

Hairdryer in your socks before you put them on too!

persisted · 09/11/2023 20:17

Make up a hot water bottle and stick it in the bed after dinner. Lovely and toasty by the time you get in.

muchalover · 09/11/2023 20:18

I have a fan on all night. Last bit of the menopause.

ShutTheDoorBabe · 09/11/2023 20:19

Knock off oodies for each member of the family.

declutteringmymind · 09/11/2023 20:20

My flatware used to iron the bed then get in it.

Bemyclementine · 09/11/2023 20:21

My revelation has been using DC beanbag as a footstool. Blanket over feet/legs . No more cold feet from the cold floor in my freezing house

As in plates?

RantyAnty · 09/11/2023 20:23

That's awesome.
I love making little nests like that.

ladeluge · 09/11/2023 20:29

Use the hairdryer under your dressing gown after your shower. Like a body hand drier. So nice and all the bits get done properly lol.

CopperLion · 09/11/2023 20:31

genius. I have a spare electric blanket and now can’t wait to do this. Thanks OP!

DahliaJ · 09/11/2023 20:36

The throw on my sofa has been changed to a spare single duvet, inside a rather lovely plain linen cover. Gorgeous for cozy evenings

Fbshe · 09/11/2023 20:41

I normally have the heating on constantly but I’m now living alone for the first winter and in a new house so I’m worried about bills. Are electric blankets/throws a lot cheaper? I keep considering buying one of each for on the sofa and in bed. I’ve not had the heating on yet but spend all of my time in bed with two hot water bottles.

Yes, electric blankets and throws are cheap to run and so much safer than hot water bottles (do you know how to check for the expiry date on hw bottles?).

An electric blanket has changed my life. I only have it on for 10 mins before bed and then for around and hour once in bed.

honeyandfizz · 09/11/2023 21:19

I invested in an electric throw a few weeks ago, I feel the cold terribly and really suffered last winter. Oh my its a game changer, have barely had the heating on yet and sometime I am too warm. Totally worth it.

TheWanderingWoman · 09/11/2023 21:34

I've got an oodie and an electric blanket and I'm really toasty without the heating on.

If you put the electric blanket over you and then another (not electric) blanket on top it keeps you really warm. I haven't had the heating on today but I had to turn the electric blanket off earlier because I was sweating 😅

This made me giggle. Mine just stays in the draw.

God and here's me with my bedroom window wide open because I was hot 👀🫠

There's an expiry date on hot water bottles?😮 I've got one that's over 30 years old, still going strong.

hexsnidgett · 09/11/2023 21:59

Confused by "flatware" isn't that just American for cutlery?

TwoDozenWomen · 09/11/2023 22:01

I've got an electric blanket on the bed, and on the sofa we sit on one duvet underneath another duvet. And I've got a heating pad for my back.

YouWontHearTheLastOfIt · 09/11/2023 22:03

I recently bought some teddy bear fleece sheets, so it's lovely and cosy when I get into bed.
