Do you believe in horoscopes?

Are you a textbook Taurus or a classic Cancer? Does your rising sign make a difference? Can you guess people's astrological signs? Do you identify with a famous person who shares your sign or date of birth?

OP posts:
WhyDoIBloodyBother · 04/11/2023 22:29

No.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/11/2023 22:30

If being a typical Capricorn means thinking it's utter bollocks predicated upon making generic statements that anybody could apply to themselves if they really want to, yes.

Otherwise, it's just bullshit.

PearlClutzsche · 04/11/2023 22:34

It's been a long time since I've met anyone who believes in astrology.

I used to write them.

Starmoonsu · 04/11/2023 22:36

Not really but I like to read them for entertainment purposes. Astrology has been going a long time.

Libertass · 04/11/2023 22:37

Of course not. 🙄

Clawdy · 04/11/2023 22:38

I really don't, but I do remember years ago, a teacher in our staffroom talking about birth signs, and how she really believed in them. Half-jokingly, she went round the group of teachers, guessing their birth signs, and to our surprise, she got nearly everyone right. It was odd!

TheShellBeach · 04/11/2023 22:41

Absolutely not.

NoraLuka · 04/11/2023 22:42

No but I still read them.

PermanentTemporary · 04/11/2023 22:43

No.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 04/11/2023 22:46

You are asking the wrong question.

Horoscopes exist in exactly the same way UFO's exist

theduchessofspork · 04/11/2023 22:47

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/11/2023 22:36

I used to write them.

I’m guessing that’s a no then

fedupandstuck · 04/11/2023 22:49

It's an obvious no to believing that your personality and future prospects are related to or controlled by the position of constellations at the time of your birth. There's no plausible mechanism as to how that would work nor is there any actual evidence that this is the case.

ForfarFourEastFifeFive · 04/11/2023 22:51

Of course not. How could 1/12th of the world’s population share the exact same personality traits, experience the same vague problems and want the same random questions answered at the exact same time? Arrant nonsense, and most horoscopes you read don’t even have to good grace not to take themselves seriously.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/11/2023 22:53

Anything woo should be treated as entertainment only

GreenEggsAndShame · 04/11/2023 23:15

I believe in horoscope and astrology OP. But this is because I suffer from severe anxiety and need to know things will be ok for me.
It's all rubbish I bet but it helps me feel a bit prepared. I obviously have issues :(

But supposing your horoscope says something bad is going to happen?

Slipknotted · 04/11/2023 23:21

Let me guess, OP. You’re a Taurus with Gemini rising, and have a deadline for the Lazy Journalist Times coming up.

GreenEggsAndShame · 04/11/2023 23:27

@TheShellBeach Then I panic. Logically I know I should not believe but I suffer from severe anxiety and really struggle.

MonkeyPuddle · 04/11/2023 23:29

No. I may as well believe that sudoku is plotting my future

doingitmyselfmum · 04/11/2023 23:32

I shouldn't believe in them but I can't help it.

I have guessed everyone correctly who I have came in contact with. Well actually it wasn't a guess, I just knew within minutes of interaction.

I've never been wrong.

All scorpios have similar traits and easily noticeable, as-well as Gemini's

She'd probably seen their dates of birth!

So they don't always make you feel better.

GreenEggsAndShame · 04/11/2023 23:43

@TheShellBeach I said it helps me feel prepared. I know I have a problem, as I've said. Not sure what your point is? Quite antagonizing. If you don't believe then that's fine, no need to bully someone else.

shardash · 04/11/2023 23:47

At one place I worked, we used to sit round in the rest room and take turns each day to read out everyone's horoscopes out of the newspaper. Every time it was my turn, I deliberately read out the wrong ones, and nobody ever twigged.
