What were you scared of as a kid that wasn't meant to be scary?

For me it was Dastardly and Muttley. I have no idea why but I was terrified of them and if I woke up in the night to use the bathroom I used to run because I thought they were hiding in my attic and would snatch me and pull me up.

It's just funny looking back because they're not even scary characters and not meant to be😂

Porcelain Dolls.

You know thise expensive, supposed to be cute, porcelain dolls dressed in pretty dresses.
My great aunt collected them and they freaked me out, when I had to visit her.

To be honest, they still do.

The Beast from Beauty and the Beast.

The wallpaper in my bedroom. Scared me silly! No idea why, from the photos in looks pretty normal. But I was sure there were monsters living in it!

Me too, totally creeped me out. Hating using the bathroom at my grandparents as I was convinced he was going to climb in the window and kidnap me 😭

The furry Monster Munch characters. I was terrified of them!

Cats😂wouldn’t even walk on the same path as one!

My wallpaper. Seriously, in the half light one of the cartoon characters looked very sinister indeed.

That noise the landline phone used to make if it had been left off the hook too long. It spooked me.

Chinese dragons, or specifically the two (or more!) person costume ones.

Skeletons. My worst nightmare that gave me the screaming heebie-jeebies was that there was a skeleton in a hole in the corner of my bedroom.

My brother was also terrified of WG! Used to hide behind the sofa, poor wee lad.

Bjork! I love (most of) her music as an adult though. She just creeped me out. I still hate the song It's oh so quiet though.

The Boy from Space... a really creepy tv show we watched at school in the early 80's when I was about 5 or 6. No idea why we watched it but it really freaked me out!

Is this the lion and the bear? Because they were legitimately terrifying for toddlers.

Shaving heads. I was ok with bald people but the act of actually shaving it freaked me out completely - the noise, the movement of a razor over their head - it just got to me. Long into early adulthood to be honest.

The dog dragon thing in The Neverending Story.

The Wombles used to terrify me. Their eyes are so beady and they have that long weird nose. The one with glasses used to have me hiding behind the couch.

I also had toilet flushing fear. Thought the flush would alert any lurking ghosts to my presence!
