If you watch horror movies, what is one scene that you can think of that sticks out as being one of the scariest scenes you've watched?

I think it is interesting to see what is effective and what different people find scary.

For me it's the scene in hereditary where she's on the ceiling sawing her head off with chicken wire. Absolutely hated that imagery and felt so disturbed!

Since posting on this thread back in Nov, I've had the dubious pleasure of watching a film simply titled 'Fall'. I was intrigued after it was featured on Gogglebox. Oh. My. God. Do not watch if you're not keen on heights. I was nauseous by the end and had to watch Rocky Horror afterwards as a sort of 'palate cleanser' 😂😂

I've just watched Killing Ground based on its mention on this thread. Wow. Utterly brutal, right up there with Wolf Creek.

I watched a horror last night called backtrack with Adrien Brody on amazon prime. It was more of a ghost story but it had a good twist at the end I found it really good. The 2001 movie frailty is good also a man with two sons claiming god tells him to kill people who are really demons. Another is Stigmata with Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne and bless the child with Kim Bassinger. Out from the conjuring nun I found the last scene in lost souls with Wynona Ryder scary where she is waiting to see if Ben Chaplin turns in to the devil when the clock strikes his smile terrified me.

In Willow, when the woman rescuing the baby is running through the forest and the dogs are chasing her

28 days later where someone puts his thumbs through someone eyes and you hear them squishing !!!

One of the saw films where a woman falls into a pit of (presumably) dirty needles and has them sticking out of her. Similarly when someone pulls their wrist back through broken glass

The bit in band of brothers where 2 men are involved in a knife fight and the German stabs him through the heart very very slowly whilst he’s still alive. Thats stayed with me forever

The bit in The Ring where you see a flash of the twisted dead face of a girl in the closet who watched the video and the girl crawling out of the well combined with the eerie music . Gave me nightmares!

The whole film Johnny Gets His Gun gave me nightmares for weeks.

i agree about Sinister, I think it is an absolute masterpiece and Ethan Hawke deserves a special mention. It sets the scene with that chilling opening footage and carries on from there. The only thing I dislike is the jump cut at the end.

i was watching a review about an instrument created especially for horror films called the Apprehension Engine. It was used in the Lighthouse, the Witch and the more recent Black Phone, another film I enjoyed.

Never been able to watch ‘Green Inferno’ through to the end. I have to switch it off because the scene with the ants and people trapped in those cages is just too much.

The face squishing on blade runner was also unbearable. God save us.

O Holy Night when it turns up on Industry. Ow.
