None of the Friends Co stars have posted anything on Instagram about Matthew Perry's death

Maybe they have posted elsewhere, just find it strange that none of them appear to have acknowledged it on Instagram, especially as they all seem to be pretty active on there.

OP posts:

Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they don't feel just as deeply as non-famous people. Not only are these five celebrities dealing with the grief and shock and who knows what kind of complicated emotions, but they are also seeing the stark reality of what it will look like when they die. Drones flying overhead to get a photo of the death scene, the body bag, snaps of grieving family. Relentless attention, speculation, gossip and judgement. I can't believe (except I can) that anyone begrudges them a few days privacy before they share their personal sorrow with the world. Of course they're going to comment, it's hardly a great mystery why it's taking a bit of time - not for anyone with a shred of empathy anyway.

I don't do much social media or news but I do look at a bit and I was appalled at all the paparazzi taking really intrusive pictures of his poor parents. And flying a drone over his house, WTAF 😳. These people just have no morals whatsoever.

I hope the Friends don't feel obliged make a statement, it's completely unnecessary. It's quite clear they must be absolutely devastated.

It's horrifying - but clearly there's an appetite for that footage. It doesn't bear thinking about what that's like to endure when it's your loved one.

FlamingoQueen · 30/10/2023 22:18

Telling the world how they feel is probably not high on their priority list right now. Anyone with an ounce of sense would realise this. I feel so gutted for them.

daisybrown37 · 30/10/2023 22:36

They have made a statement now.

tinytemper66 · 30/10/2023 22:42

Joint message released. Happy now OP?

Their friend died
Maybe they have more on their minds right now.
and this impacts you how exactly?

Yep.

It’s such a bizarre idea that someone would jump on social to comment on the death of a friend, just because they generally use it for marketing.

wtf etc

MariaLuna · 30/10/2023 22:44

They're probably devastated, I don't think they owe anyone a statement at this stage

This.

MaryBeardsShoes · 30/10/2023 22:47

Fuck me, leave them alone. Matthew Perry was their friend, an actually human persons. Have some respect.

Exactly! sick of these threads tbh.

SkaneTos · 30/10/2023 22:50

They have made a statement now.

danro · 30/10/2023 22:54

I think their statement is very telling. They clearly aren’t ready to publicly speak about Matthew yet and they need time to grieve. I hope this statements allows them the peace to do that and people leave them alone now.

I agree with this.

It will be the last thing on your mind

This is actually not true. Introverts and extraverts grieve differently and it is common for extraverts to comment on their grief on social media and for introverts to be horrified.

I’ve cared for many dying people including children. Nobody’s grief was able to be measured by whether they posted on social media or not.

Sadly that's what LA is like I saw some footage of his mum and maybe stepfather in the car faces lit up from the cameras it's a disgrace ! TMZ are the worst !

GonnaNeedABiggerBag · 30/10/2023 11:14

Aside from the expected joint statement, I expect they are devastated and are taking solace together. I applaud their social media silence, it’s dignified and feels appropriate.

Absolutely agree

beguilingeyes · 31/10/2023 06:41

"If they are as close as they claimed?"

Wow that's pretty nasty.

I really hate the word celebrities. It makes me think of people who are famous for being famous. Big Brother or TOWIE types who just want to be on the telly/in the paper.
I think there should be another word for people who have become famous for being world class at what they do. Whether it's the Friends cast, or JK Rowling or Judi Dench.

Mrsjayy · 31/10/2023 06:53

I agree although let's stop calling people from reality TV celebrities.

😂fair point!

OVienna · 31/10/2023 17:54

I am sure this has been said a gazillion times but I need to repeat it: No need for performance posting when you're genuinely grieving. CRICKEY!

DoughBallss · 31/10/2023 18:25

If my friend died the last thing on my mind would be posting online about it. I really don’t understand the expectation of people/celebrities to live through social media

AC3012 · 31/10/2023 18:51

Get over yourself. They’ve lost someone close to them. They don’t need to say anything at all and they don’t need to be hounded about saying a word! When someone you love dies, see how prepared you are to ‘acknowledge’ it all over social media.

olivechuu · 31/10/2023 19:06

how much of a sad little drip of a human do you need to be to make this kind of observation?
Do you make statements on instagram when your loved ones die or do you just expect it of strangers?
