What madness is this (biscuit related)

Sprogonthetyne · 29/10/2023 10:04

DH of many years, who I previously believed was an entirely sensible person, has today described chocolate digestives as have chocolate on the bottom & writing on top. To me this is madness, and the chocolate is clearly on the top.

Who is eating their biscuits upside-down?

Sorry, but you are all missing the major point here in that the only proper biscuit is a custard cream.

No, no.
Abernethy are the best.

I would concede to a Golden Crunch Cream perhaps?

Atmytethersend · 29/10/2023 19:25

Also, if any one didn't know, the biscuit inside a penguin is the same biscuit used for a bourbon cream. Just a different filling and coated with chocolate obviously.

Oh and chocolate digestives have the chocolate on the bottom

TheQuestToStopPigeonWoppie · 29/10/2023 19:33

So, it seems clear that the writing is on top as the biscuit bakes, and the chocolate is applied to the bottom. (The BBC has enlightened us on that point, and who am I to disagree.)

But, that being the case, they need to be served and consumed upside down.

FallingAutumnLeaf · 29/10/2023 19:49

Hmm, I find them best eaten in pairs, chocolate sides sandwiched together in the middle so my fingers dont get chocolatey.
So, my answer is chocolate in the middle.

Lelophants · 29/10/2023 19:51

Chocolate is on top as the topping and the chocolate is on the top of the biscuit as it goes in my mouth!

No no no

Pascha · 29/10/2023 19:53

I take mine out of the freezer 2 at a time, dunk in tea and lick the chocolate off before scoffing the biscuit. If I had to take a side I would say the chocolate is on top and we eat them upside down.

Inastatus · 29/10/2023 19:55

So if the chocolate is indeed on the bottom why do they put the biscuits in the packet upside down?

HappiestSleeping · 29/10/2023 19:56

Lelophants · 29/10/2023 19:52

No no no

Yes yes yes 👍

Why are they in the freezer?
Only rational reason being that you are hiding them from kids. Anything else is absurd.

Pascha · 29/10/2023 20:08

My kids know they are there and help themselves. The biscuits are better, the chocolate is better. It works.

There's a whole other thread on how the full moon can affect people. I think it's best of you ask your family to lock away the sharp items in your home and take to your bed for a couple of days Flowers

HardcoreLadyType · 29/10/2023 20:54

YAclearlyBU for eating chocolate digestives. What a waste of chocolate to put it on a bleugh biscuit like a digestive.

ButWhatIsIt · 29/10/2023 21:03

Everyone knows that the only way to eat a chocolate digestive is to spread biscotti on the plain side, then add another chocolate digestive plain side down onto the biscotti.
Don't they???

TheGhostILoveTheMost · 29/10/2023 21:05

I put them in my mouth chocolate side down.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 29/10/2023 21:07

You still haven't said if it's a milk chocolate or a dark chelate digestive OP.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 29/10/2023 21:09

*chocolate

CuppaRosie · 29/10/2023 21:11

Chocolate is on the top in my world.

No idea about Jaffa cakes. Horrible things. And NOT biscuits.

AdaColeman · 29/10/2023 22:16

I like to pile blue cheese on to the plain chocolate of the digestive, so clearly, the chocolate must be on the TOP.
Obviously, no dunking goes on here.

As for the BBC being the arbiter in anything of serious importance, don't make me laugh!

Theokaycokey · 29/10/2023 22:20

It doesn't matter how you eat them...upside down, or dunked at a vertical angle in your mug. The top is the top and will always be the top, regardless of which way you subsequently turn it. And the top is covered in chocolate, unless of course some idiot has been putting them upside down in their packets for many many years.

KnickerlessParsons · 29/10/2023 22:26

FatOaf · 29/10/2023 10:06

You put chocolate digestives in your mouth with the chocolate side down so it's in contact with your tongue, so your husband is sort of right.

No you don't! Or at least, no I don't.
