What madness is this (biscuit related)

DH of many years, who I previously believed was an entirely sensible person, has today described chocolate digestives as have chocolate on the bottom & writing on top. To me this is madness, and the chocolate is clearly on the top.

Who is eating their biscuits upside-down?

OP posts:

I snap them in half, dip them in a cup of tea, and eat the result CHOCOLATE SIDE UP.

You put chocolate digestives in your mouth with the chocolate side down so it's in contact with your tongue, so your husband is sort of right.

Who does this??? Literally never eaten a chocolate covered biscuit in this way

(And now fancy chocolate Hobnobs, damn this thread!!)

TheseLegsDefinitelyUsedToBeLonger · 29/10/2023 10:53

Chocolate most definitely on top - but YABU @Sprogonthetyne as I now want some chocolate digestives! 😂

Papergirl1968 · 29/10/2023 10:54

You're right, @Blarn and I think they make it into mouth chocolate side up but it's kind of a subconscious process so I'm not 100 per cent sure. Clearly I will have to do some research and try it both ways! 😂

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 29/10/2023 11:05

I feel for your DH. He has brought up an issue that he clearly feels strongly about and instead of reflecting on how you must have been getting many issues wrong your entire life, you have come on here to ridicule him.

If I knew your DH I would advise him to LTB immediately! Grin

Chocolate is on the top, just like jam comes before cream. End of!!

Hard hat has been firmly connected to head.

MyBlueDiary · 29/10/2023 11:07

The chocolate is on the top. However they’re best eaten upside down.

JeanMarie · 29/10/2023 11:28

According to my DP....after some deliberation ...it's all on how you hold them. Apparently if you hold them chocolate side up you run the risk of getting chocolate on up to three fingers....chocolate side down...only your thumb . I suppose it all depends on how many digits you want to lick.😃

TheShellBeach · 29/10/2023 11:32

I get chocolate on my fingers no matter how I hold them.
I quite enjoy licking them.

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/10/2023 11:41

Oh bugger!!!

According to McVitie's, the makers of Chocolate Digestives, Chocolate Hobnobs and Jaffa Cakes, the chocolate side of the biscuit is not the top but the bottom.
Caroline Hipperson, Chief Marketing Officer for the company, said the biscuits "swim through a reservoir of chocolate when we make them, which dips their bottoms in chocolate.

And for those that want to post:

"Source!!!"

Here it is:

Sadly I have no chocolate digestives in the house currently , so can’t give an opinion. But I will be back soon…………

MajorBarbara · 29/10/2023 11:45

If choc digestives have the choc 'on the bottom', then wouldn't it get on the plate and make smears?

Cumbrianlife · 29/10/2023 11:47

NRTFT but he's correct, they confirmed this last year...

Bloodsweatntears · 29/10/2023 11:49

I have never seen chocolate digestives on a plate with the chocolate side facing down. Therefore the chocolate is clearly on the top.

HelpMeGetThrough · 29/10/2023 11:50

They need to be teaching them to do the front crawl and not the bloody backstroke!!

<knocks hard hat off>

Cream on bottom
Chocolate on bottom

Shame on you!

CopperLion · 29/10/2023 12:27

LTB.

Cream on bottom
Chocolate on bottom*

I'm conceding chocolate on the bottom.

Only buggers north of Saltash put cream on the bottom, but we never speak of it.

elliesmummy19 · 29/10/2023 12:40

What the f*! Obviously LTB! He’s a wrong un. How weird! I’m shocked to hear there are people out there who eat chocolate digestives with the CHOCOLATE FACING DOWN! What 😂

My only hope is now that the OP has been shown the error of her ways she's busy apologising to her poor DH...

I think all of us know it all "it's on the top" have been shown. 😁

Still bloody right about jam and cream though!

Ibravedaflood · 29/10/2023 14:51

Ltb. He is a psycho..

Pleaseme · 29/10/2023 14:58

TheShellBeach · 29/10/2023 10:44

My DH wants you to ask your DH if he believes that the same thing applies to Jaffa Cakes.

Jaffa cakes are not a biscuit, they are a cake so biscuit based rules don’t apply. There was a court case as chocolate biscuits have VAT payable but cakes don’t.

Pinkpinkpink15 · 29/10/2023 18:49

Break in half, dunk, lick off chocolate and shovel in before it disintegrates,
