Inspired by the trending weather thread and the individuals who appear to be au faith with weather models, got me wondering what uncommon or unique thing you know a lot about and would be regarded as people's "go to" (if they knew)?

Mine is foreign exchange.

Big Cats in Britain

I wouldn't say I know anything in particular depth, just a superficial knowledge across a range of topics.

But with google, I can research the heck out of any topic where people would have given up due to sheer boredom. Problem solving is my speciality.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 29/10/2023 14:58

I didn’t even know there were big cats in Britain!

You should see next door's Maine Coon. He's lovely.

Geology from degrees and work, especially structural (mountains etc) and fossils, trilobites are my fave! I frequently got stopped on the school run by random small children with a bit of rock or fossil in their hand Smile

I’m also pretty good with plants but that’s recreational with a bit of volunteering at RHS.

Also female SOE agents during WW2 (inspired my user name).

Criminal law, health and safety law. The difference between acts of Parliament, statutory instruments and guidance 😁. Policing tactics.

And my personal fav: reading between the lines of police press releases - I've rarely been wrong!

The Titanic, dinosaurs and WW2 battleships (thanks DS with ASD Grin)

@MajorBarbara haha, very good! We used to have a Bengal cross who weighed 8kg at the height of his powers. He was lovely at intervals (usually while he plotted to remove another body part from you).

Noor Inayat Khan has always been an inspiration to me. Her memorial in London the first stand-alone memorial to an Asian woman in the UK and apparently one of the few anywhere in the world to a Muslim woman.

SusanSHelit · 30/10/2023 14:41

Neolithic and iron age Europe and britiain, in particular the various material cultures and how to tell them apart. Ancient Greek and mycinean Greek mythology and syncretism. Much past alexender the great I'm not overly interested in though some of it is interesting. Man properly earned his title though, absolute badass
