It’s a full moon. Do you believe it makes people batshit?

My partner is convinced that a full moon makes me act differently.
What do you think? Do you or others around you act batty at this time of the month? If so, how?

Yes agree. Having spent many years working with young people with behaviours that challenge….
full moons are a difficult time !

daffodilandtulip · 28/10/2023 10:52

Having spent 18 years working on mental health wards. Oh. Yes.

Isthisexpected · 28/10/2023 10:52

There is some evidence behind this. It really impacts on women (have been reading about matresence).

BettyBunMaker · 28/10/2023 10:53

At work we notice the wind has more effect on children than a full moon

Nuanced · 28/10/2023 10:53

100%

I’m not into woo stuff at all but my job means I’m constantly interacting with people and definitely notice a shift when there’s a full moon.

daffodilandtulip · 28/10/2023 10:54

It's the origin of "lunatic"

I work in early years and the full moon definitely makes a difference.

I used to notice it in my own child too, they would become loud, hyperactive and much more vocal when there was full moon.

@BettyBunMaker Yes, I’ve noticed that too - it makes them hyper 😅

I think the moon definitely affects some people too.

Gnomegnomegnome · 28/10/2023 10:55

Working on Mh ward’s definitely yes! The doctors breezily say it’s nonsense before leaving the hospital for the night.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/10/2023 10:56

Remember reading somewhere reliable years ago that crime is higher during full moons.

Binkie98 · 28/10/2023 10:57

I am always a lot clumsier when it's a full moon. I don't even have to look it up, I drop plates and cups, knock things over and I just know it's a full moon.

Decafflatteplease · 28/10/2023 10:57

Absolutely yes! None of us ever sleep properly on a full moon!

shardash · 28/10/2023 10:58

Definitely. It affects cats as well, our 4 are really getting tiresome and irritated with one another! We've noticed it often, and things will calm down again once the moon starts to wane.

TheSuperbOwl · 28/10/2023 10:59

Absolutely, no question about it!

megletthesecond · 28/10/2023 11:00

Yes. I used to have a moon cycle chart up in the office many years ago as I could always tell when things were going to go tits up (logistics and admin).

Heyhoherewegoagain · 28/10/2023 11:01

Absolutely-as an emergency service worker, I can tell you when it’s a full moon without looking in the sky or at a calendar and am generally right

Caffeineislife · 28/10/2023 11:04

The moon and the wind both have an effect. Can definitely been seen when groups of children are together.

I can tell when it's a full moon without even looking as my DD(age 2.5) is extra feral atm - loud, moody, hyper, constant running, jumping and climbing. This happens every full moon or if it's windy. Soft play is my savior, she can manage 3 hours at full pelt with no break on a full moon or if it's windy. Otherwise it is 90 mins and done or the full 2 hours with breaks for a drink/ food.

Devilsmommy · 28/10/2023 11:04

Yes it does. The moon affects the tides, it does the same to our blood

BringMeTea · 28/10/2023 11:06

100% yes!

Well I never - obvious!

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/10/2023 11:08

It defo affects dogs. Mine always go a bit mental when there’s a full moon. Apparently it is a thing!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 28/10/2023 11:08

Yes, RMN here. Used to hate nights on BBC a full moon!

It’s weird and I don’t understand it but I’ve always believed there is something in it.

Yes when I worked on the railways the passengers were crazy, more than usual

Jemimapuddleduk · 28/10/2023 11:09

Absolutely does! We don’t sleep as well with a full moon.
