It’s a full moon. Do you believe it makes people batshit?

My partner is convinced that a full moon makes me act differently.
What do you think? Do you or others around you act batty at this time of the month? If so, how?

I also work I healthcare and 100% believe it. As do my family members who are in the police.

I'm aware that there is plenty of evidence to debunk my convictions, but as others posters have said, I know when it's a full moon without checking the calendar. It's not just mental health either. People with physical health are just as likely to behave oddly.

I spent years with a Cancerian male who was absolutely untramelled during the period of a full moon, feeling the pull of the river, wanted to camp alongside,
pull of wave and water strong with this one. His dogs were unsettled, whining,
our horses would play up with eye rolling, didn’t like windy days either, would prance sideways and not walk on, same in the rain too actually.
Moonlit nights allow enough light for nefarious deeds, romancing, harvesting -
If I hang sheets out in moonlight will they bleach - will seeds benefit from a
moolight planting

We have ridden out by moonlight, a well travelled route, magical, when the moon hid behind cloud the horses stopped, waited, ears forward, scenting the river we were moving towards, wading through, owls, pipistrelles, scurrying in the ferns,
plop of fishes, la Lune in her silver shoon, then man dogs horses home all settled.

A few years ago I worked as a customer services advisor (on the phone), occasionally I would take a call from a lairy customer who might be a bit shouty, sweary, or aggressive, it was few and far between. One day I had the most vicious callers back to back all afternoon! It was brutal, and I felt like I'd been through the ringer by the end of my shift, I joked to a colleague saying "I wonder if it's a full moon tonight!" Later on in the evening, I happened to glance outside, and sure enough, it was a huge glowing full moon alright!

I think a full moon can make it very hard to sleep, I know I don't sleep well during a full moon, lack of sleep definitely impacts my cognitive function, and I find it harder to make decisions when I'm sleep deprived although being a Virgo probably doesn't help with that either!

I actually did my dissertation on this!! To save you reading all 10,000 words: there is no statistical significance in the number of emergency services call outs (inc MH calls) in the 24 hours prior to and up to the following the day of a full moon, then at any other point in the month. However, anecdotal evidence from emergency service staff is that jobs are more likely to be longer and be stranger than on any other day.

I looked at full moon/call out data in one county over a period of 3 years.

Plankingplanks · 28/10/2023 17:12

Confirmation bias was one of the areas that looked like it might come into effect, however the qualitative data was very strong.

I guess lack of sleep will have a knock on effect on kids behaviour too.
Bloody keyboard keeps malfunctioning, so think my tablets been aeteby the blinking moon too!

MammaTo · 28/10/2023 17:12

100%.
Worked in retail for 16-17 years and a full moon is the worst time to be working.

Moonlightsonatas · 28/10/2023 17:13

My kids definitely get more feral around the full moon

DungareesAndTrombones · 28/10/2023 17:25

Definitely after working with kids with SEMH difficulties for a decade. That and the wind.

therealcookiemonster · 28/10/2023 17:55

I work in a dementia unit and when I first started working there after a particular incident one of the carers said oh just wait till there's a full moon, I was like wtf.
Now I know what she meant, residents are on another level, I never believed in this sort of thing before but I've now seen it.
