You won't be disappointed by the chippies up here, @RagzRebooted . Fields is too far from us to get them home hot but I live just down the road from a big Bell's restaurant that even has separate gluten free fryers. Sometimes mine is nicer than the rest of the family's 😁

Can’t believe summer is nearly over.
I wonder if Go North East will have the Santa bus on again.

Someaddedsugar · 26/08/2024 17:33

It feels like autumn here today! DNiece loves the Santa bus @AlviarinAesSedai!

Definitely autumnal this weekend.
I’ve been to Faru and Coarse and Isla by coarse. Enjoyed them all.
If I lived Darlington I would go to the Pasta shop every week.

Someaddedsugar · 26/08/2024 19:53

I still haven't been to the pasta shop! I have been to street food pasta which is the newer one (think they have one in bishop auckland too) but only as their times are more convenient for when we can't be bothered to cook on an evening.

I've had brunch at Isla but fancy trying the Sunday lunch too as his Sunday lunch at the Travs in Witton Gilbert was amazing when he was the head chef there.

How was Faru?

We've definitely been welcomed back from our lovely, sunny holiday with traditional North East weather.

Need to try some of the restaurants.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/08/2024 20:25

I’ve never been to that pasta shop as it’s a chuff on to park

AlviarinAesSedai · 26/08/2024 21:02

Faru was amazing! The whole service first class. I’m w/c and having my water poured for me every time, felt very spoilt. Definitely want to try both Isla and Faru Sunday lunch.
Me and DH go to Coarse every menu change since start of year. Nice bit of quality time together.
I also want to try Newcastle House of Tides Sunday lunch. God I love food.

AlviarinAesSedai · 26/08/2024 21:04

Need to try some other restaurants this week as is Durham restaurant week and lots of places have deals on.

Someaddedsugar · 27/08/2024 06:46

I agree @lifelongfrugaleer - they should have a parking bay for people who don't work in the town.

Hope you had a nice holiday @OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea.

Sounds perfect @AlviarinAesSedai - I didn't realise they all did Sunday lunch either! I've just booked Coarse for DP's birthday in November and really looking forward to that!

Anyone been to ‘The Story’ at Durham yet?
Looks really good.
Something was happening to the bus station on Friday, you had to enter around the church.

Someaddedsugar · 13/10/2024 23:43

@wintersherenow hopefully there'll be someone on this thread who can recommend a NE pet sitter or could help out...

That's fab @SinnerBoy!

PickAChew · 17/10/2024 13:58

It's awful, isn't it. Not just the people killed or injured but that will be 12 households who have lost their homes.

SinnerBoy · 17/10/2024 14:22

Apart from the little lad, there's a man dead, too and another on life support. It seems that other people are missing, I don't hold up much hope.

AlviarinAesSedai · 17/10/2024 14:39

That’s so sad!

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/10/2024 21:38

Just seen that the passport office is closed.
If rumours of windows damaged it’s shocking for a new building.
And the bus station isn’t fixed yet.
Collected the book shop must be doing well they are expanding, so happy news.
But in other news the religious man was very very noisy in market place today.

PickAChew · 26/10/2024 00:00

We did get pretty heavily buffeted by the wind on Sunday but it's a long time to be closed. Even the nearby charity shop had its signage fixed by Thursday.

I live very close to religious man and it's very obvious which house is his.

AlviarinAesSedai · 26/10/2024 00:11

Is his the one with signs in his garden?

God yes Stanley is definitely cold! Even on a sunny day the high street is cold. Definitely its own microclimate. lol.
Don’t normally watch GB news so might have to search it out.
I doubt Starmer will visit it’s not Durham city is it, no back drop of the cathedral.
The warm spaces will be back in our village. I’ve already bought my DP’s a oodie .
