There is so much out there, but nothing seems to fit the bill any more.

We have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ (but not in UK so some things might not be available).

We have enjoyed: Spies in Disguise, Mitchells vs the Machines, Pokemon movie, Hotel Transylvania, Despicable Me, Shrek, Tangled, Cars, Emoji film, Mario Bros, Lego movies, Monsters Inc, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, Home, Sing, Trolls...

We only want animated, nothing that is too tragic or preachy. Something engaging and entertaining for adults and older teen, but fun and suitable for a slightly sensitive 8yo.

We have not all enjoyed: anything Dr Seuss, Encanto (anything with Hamilton guy involved), Planes, Monster Family, Sea Beast, probably loads more that I've just blanked.

Any ideas? There are SO MANY films out there, I need recommendations! Thanks!

I love the incredibles - all of them.
Secret life of pets was fab as well.

Me ad my 8 and 4 year olds really enjoyed the 'How to train your dragon' films. Also second despicable me and Mario bros.

Some wonderful suggestions, I may be sorted for quite a few future movie nights!

Agree about HTTYD - we've watched them all, but 2 and 3 were really hard for me!
I'd forgotten the Paddington films - we all loved them, and they're not animated so maybe I could try something like that again with ds2....

Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron

Animated (some of the best animation of horses I've ever seen), historical context regarding 1st Nation Americans to be mulled over by older dc, and great soundtrack from Bryan Adams & Hans Zimmer.

I got it from Amazon Prime - you have to rent or buy. Think it might be on Sky Cinema.

Dora and the lost city of gold. It's live action and really funny.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 27/10/2023 20:03

Zootropolis. Sorry if it's already been mentioned but it's good

Houseofpainjumparound · 27/10/2023 22:38

The studio Ghibli films are good.... I would steer clear of Spirited away with the younger one for now.... but ponyo, kiki delivery service and also Howls moving castle are intriguing.

Bad Guys is really good!

Genuinely thought that you were talking the Will Smith movie bad boys there, and I was like well it's a good movie but maybe not kid friendly 😂😂

Emsmomma · 27/10/2023 22:55

Favourite in our house!

Fionaville · 27/10/2023 23:47

Just out of curiosity, what have you got against 'The Hamilton guy?' 😆 We love his stuff! Is it just his musical vibe? We also love Mitchell's V the machines.
