My daughter is 3. Possible infection. She's had a seizure and I'm waiting for an ambulance but I feel so so scared and so so alone. Please

This is so scary. I'd be same as you, how awful having to wait hours for an ambulance. I hope she is ok xx

Imreallytiredandanxioustoday · 26/10/2023 22:50

Anybody who has kids will understand when I say the relief I felt when her eyes were open and she smiled at me. Well I cried.

Absolutely we all understand. I hope she recovers quickly and is home safe and sound very soon

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 26/10/2023 22:58

I'm glad she's being seen to.

He must have had mental health issues. Surely.

The ambulance service reports that there are loads of 'pranks'. People asking for a lift into town. People who are bored, lonely. Some with mental health problems, but others who think it is a laugh.

@TerrysNeapolitan I definitely do not think someone in that situation is going to word things well, she was just trying to explain her relief.

LimePi · 26/10/2023 23:04

@TerrysNeapolitan

seriously??

rach2713 · 26/10/2023 23:06

I hope everything is ok with your daughter i know its been scary but she is in the best place. Could it have been i fever fit she had as her temp was so high. My daughter had a few when she haf a high temp..

MaryBeery · 26/10/2023 23:06

I was rushed into hospital with febrile convulsions when I was 2-3 years old. Apparently the next morning I was chatting away on the ward like nothing had happened and asking if I could have bacon for breakfast. I know it's really scary when it happens, especially if it seems like the ambulance is never coming, but it's not that uncommon, and it's likely that she won't have any long term after effects. I'm glad she's responding now, and hopefully she'll be much better in the morning.

Cowey · 26/10/2023 23:06

@TerrysNeapolitan give over, OP has been worried sick about her child. It’s not insulting, you have just taken it not how it was meant.

Oh come on.

Whentheboatcomein · 26/10/2023 23:07

Glad she’s being seen and you got a smile, fingers crossed for you both x

VintageBlossomHill · 26/10/2023 23:13

I’m so relieved to read your last update. I actually got the shivers and could feel my hair rising as I read through your posts. I felt fear and that is very unusual reaction from me. I hope your little girl bounces back very quickly. Parenthood isn’t for the faint hearted x

5thCommandment · 26/10/2023 23:21

As a father that was a hard read, so glad you trusted your instinct and everything is ok, I welled up reading that. Very well done, be proud of yourself, amazingly brave.

Loubelle70 · 26/10/2023 23:22

Just seen this post. Phew. Omg so glad shes responsive. My daughter when 3 was unresponsive, breathing, vomiting, 999 said wait until morning when drs open!. Mothers instinct..youve got it.
I took her immediately to a+e...lucky i didn't listen to 999...she wouldn't be here. She had bacterial meningitis. 1 day later was in intensive care, they said if i hadnt took her in and left til morning, she wouldn't be here nm intensive care.
If your child ever unresponsive ..temp..and breathing bugger emergency services, straight to a and e.

PlantDoctor · 26/10/2023 23:22

Terrifying! Glad she's been seen and is responding! Thinking of you both 💐

Loubelle70 · 26/10/2023 23:22

Well done OP.

Lindy2 · 26/10/2023 23:23

I'm glad she's been seen and is OK.

It sounds like a febrile convulsion. They are very frightening to witness but the child is usually fine but very tired afterwards.

Bananaandmarmite · 26/10/2023 23:28

Woah! What a totally amazing mummy! So strong! Well done you. So incredibly scary to see your baby unresponsive (I’ve been there). You were on your own and did brilliantly.

she will be proud. Look after you now too. It will hit you hard.

3pteepee · 26/10/2023 23:29

You were so brave and you did the best for your baby girl. So glad it’s all turned out well. Sending hugs and hope it never happens again xx

mommatoone · 26/10/2023 23:30

OP - you absolutely did the right thing. Hope she feels better soon💞

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 23:34

We are on a ward. She has IV antibiotics for a massive urine infection. She had a febrile seizure. She's also dehydrated so fluids as well. The doctors and nurses have all apologised for the wait of the ambulance but reiterated that I did the right thing scooping her and bringing her in. It was so terrifying being thar person in a and e who was seen in about 10 seconds. Like we barely got in the reception and she was taken straight. To the user I offended by my speech I didn't mean it. I just cannot explain the relief. She's my most precious thing. And to have had no response for almost 2 hours and then to see her smile and actually be aware, I meant absolutely no offence.

I spent 2 hours listening to her breathing. Waiting for an ambulance. This is the state we are in..no parent should go thru this. Nobody should. In hindsight I'd have scooped her and ran earlier but I didn't know. To everyone who offered advice I thank you.

Oh OP how awful. So glad to see you're at the hospital. My husband has recently diagnosed epilepsy and his first seizure was terrifying - ambulance came so quickly. A first seizure is meant to be a category 2, behind only major threat to live like cardiac arrest etc, so how they can say cat 2 is 4 hours is madness. I hope your daughter is okay and recovers well x
