Recommend me your favourite things!

Deluxe coleslaw
Lidl large lasagna, it’s very creamy.
They’re frozen paella, we add extra seafood to it and it makes a great one pan meal for 2.
Their Pecorino white wine is lovely.

waistchallenge · 23/10/2023 22:26

I saw the most astonishingly handsome guy in Lidl once. Six foot plus, dark hair, gorgeous face- French or Italian looks. He clocked me staring at him and half smiled. I missed the moment to say something 😭

waistchallenge · 23/10/2023 22:28

Don't miss Italian week 😭

felisha54 · 23/10/2023 22:30

Deluxe Gouda cheese and the sweet chilli crackers

mrsfeatherbottom · 23/10/2023 22:30

I like their little mini magnum dupes - the almond ones.

Also their Portuguese egg tarts from the bakery.

SkiingIsHeaven · 23/10/2023 22:32

The natural yoghurt with the blue and white lid.

SilasMarnerJekyll · 23/10/2023 22:36

The Ecuadorian 70% chocolate bar is amazing value at only 85p.

DiscoBeat · 23/10/2023 22:39

I like the almond handwash. I get the main shopping in Aldi/Sainsbury but I always stock up on the Lidl handwash.

Aydel · 23/10/2023 22:46

Hortus gin. The Japanese cherry blossom gin. The Fevertree Mediterranean tonic water dupe is not nice but the original full fat Indian tonic water is fine.

BaronessBomburst · 23/10/2023 22:51

The 10% fat Greek yogurt is the best!
Olives from the chiller cabinet.
Madame Glamour perfume is a dupe for Coco Mademoiselle.
The chilled coconut and caramel alfajores cakes during South American week.
But not the washing powder. It's terrible and doesn't dissolve properly.

Vettrianofan · 24/10/2023 07:02

Formil non bio liquid detergent. Really like this for washing the clothes.

Tessisme · 24/10/2023 07:21

Agree with pp that the frozen potato gratins are worth buying. DS1 likes their chocolate granola type cereal. Can't check the name as he has eaten it all! But it's in a brown and white box with the word 'honey' on it somewhere. Their fake Magnums are lovely. And the cheese and onion rolls and Bavarian pretzels from the bakery section are a hit here.

MyCircumference · 24/10/2023 07:41

malt bloomer loaf
rye bread
cheese twists
their version of snickers

MyCircumference · 24/10/2023 07:41

agree, not their feta

MushMonster · 24/10/2023 07:43

Anything in the bakery section, but the chocolate filled dougnuts need a special mention.

MushMonster · 24/10/2023 07:45

And they do have acoconut ice cream that comes in an actual coconit shell and is really nice.

Hibernatalie · 24/10/2023 07:46

The bakery is great - low GI rolls are delicious, brownies, sourdough loaf, mini pizzas and my favourite - cinnamon sweet buns

Hibernatalie · 24/10/2023 07:47

SqueakyDinosaur · 23/10/2023 21:09

200g bar of milk chocolate with whole almonds.

Second this - gorgeous

MyCircumference · 24/10/2023 07:48

i love their jam donuts

waistchallenge · 24/10/2023 07:50

It's really annoying about the feta because it forces me to go to Aldi, and it's such a staple these days.

From the toiletries, the oblong white boxes of tissues are good and I like the plain box. I don't want a ditsy floral tissue box clashing with my decor.

I've had the Tresemmé dupe blue/black bottle conditioner and it seemed good, what you would expect.

treadingonlego · 24/10/2023 07:52

They have the best range of whole nuts - a pack each of cashews, walnuts, pecans, Brazil, pistachio, and hazelnuts is usually on my list!

RinklyRomaine · 24/10/2023 07:53

Was just coming to mention the low GI rolls. The brownies are also fantastic. My kids eat the prepackaged pain au chocolats for breakfast.

Chicken poke bowls are better than the Itsu ones.

Coconut Greek yoghurt in the large tub, the smoked scamorza and most cheese is great. I've loved the crème fraiche potato salad forever.

Spanish jamon croquetas, Alpine florentines and the large bag of peanut flipz are all good specialties.

Chocolate lebkuchen shapes, and the marzipan with praline centres are lovely, as are the stollen bites.

The faux mint magnums and Solero are very good, as are the lotus style ones.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 24/10/2023 07:55

Frozen pastel de natas 😍
you have to cook for longer than the instructions say and then leave them to cool and set slightly. Delicious.

Lancasterel · 24/10/2023 07:58

I got some lush French goat’s cheese there at the weekend - in the long, thin tube shape/box but creamy and rindless more like Welsh goat’s cheese! Had it last night and was surprised by how delicious it is!

Coastalcreeksider · 24/10/2023 08:27

The potato gratin in the chilled cabinet, I add grated cheese on top, very creamy and there is loads of it. The West Country butter both block and tub, the whipped garlic and herb cheese, fishcakes are quite nice, the ones with the melt in the middle centre, smoked salmon.

The mint magnum type of ice creams, the almond ones too, Greek style plain yoghurt, also the coconut one, the praline centre pastries, the cheese twists and the GI loaf, also the white crusty loaf.

There's actually not much I don't like in Lidl but I'd be here all day listing everything I do like. 😁
