Trio chocolate biscuit bars (remember the ad!!!)

tobee · 25/10/2023 19:12

TRIO!!!!!!!!!!! TTRIIIIIIIO! 🎶

Lilt is now Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit @wizzbitt. I think it's a fair substitution. I used to be addicted to Lilt Zero cans and you couldn't find it for ages. Really poor supply problems apparently.

I prefer cans to bottles and I've only found the Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit in bottles so far

I used to like Lilt. I now drink Ting - not the same as it’s grapefruit flavour rather than pineapple/grapefruit but not a bad substitute. It’s originally from the Caribbean but you’ve been able to get it in the UK for some while now.

@ShoesoftheWorld
Brands often take the opportunity to reduce the sugar/salt/fat content if they’re switching from veggie to vegan or just (as is often the case) changing up their branding. So they take out the stuff that makes it taste good & then everyone thinks the veganity is to blame 🥺😢 Infuriating all round.

Tesco savoury rice cakes, my now grown up DC loved them. All moans about being hungry were met with with - would you like fruit or a rice cake?

Haha made me chuckle. I used to do this with DD when she was younger 'mum can i have bar chocolate' ' no get a banana ' 😂

Loubelle70 · 26/10/2023 23:02

Sweet tobacco 😁 (70s) they still make it but not the same.
It looked like tobacco .' thick pieces of shredded coconut generously coated with sugar and cocoa powder'

Yes! I still find it by weight in sweet shops with jars but I really want it in the waxed packets that had a pirate ship on, Spanish Gold?

Also the original walnut whips with bits of walnut in the base. Especially the coffee ones.

Coffee matchmakers

I saw latte matchmakers in b&m this week

Gino ginelli tutti frutti ice cream
Lucky charms
Jaw breakers
The blue penny sweet that tasted of raspberry.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 27/10/2023 18:17

M&S chicken lattice. Totally worth the indigestion afterwards.

Toffee crunch sweets. Proper toffee crunch, not the nonsense sold by some online sweet shops.

Boots used to do a flatbread wrap thing with chicken in some sort of gloopy sauce in the late 90s (and probably after then, too). That, and a Flyte bar, were a perfect lunch back in the day.

M&S used to sell a pre-chopped salad that was lovely - just iceberg lettuce, peppers, carrot, onion...no dressing or anything fancy. All chopped to the perfect size to be tipped onto a plate and eaten with a fork. I miss that.

Toffee Crumble…

TooFondOfBooks · 28/10/2023 23:08

@SheriffofRottingham
It may partly be because as well as the potential for triggering the Proustian Madeline effect; it’s a thread where posters are playing nicely together. Nobody’s saying anyone’s late lamented foods are/were disgusting (etc); people are advising each other as to where foods thought vanished can be procured; & posters are commiserating over losses - & the way that M&S apparently exists only to torment us by routinely ripping away our comestibles of choice. (Well, that & be a reliable provider of pants & pyjamas.)
