I don't think Jelly Tots ever contained gelatine. Fruit Pastilles and many others did, but not Jelly Tots.

I have no idea tbh….they had changed completely and had lost their distinctive texture and taste. I could see that being because the setting agent had changed. What is odd is that I would say that they are now just like mini fruit pastilles.

Yes to M&S roasted vegetable sandwich. Tesco roast vegetable plait. Terry's Neapolitan chocolates. Boots hummus and carrot sandwich.

Reconstituted dried meals from 1970s to take me back to my student days and height of sophisticated cuisine - Vesta Beef Italian and Chinese Chicken with the expandable noodles. Goodness only knows what they were made of, certainly not food.

Heinz cucumber spread. Like Sandwich spread but cucumber.

APurpleSquirrel · 23/10/2023 22:02

@DahliaMacNamara according to this site Jelly Tots did use to contain gelatine, but not for 10+ years.

Mars Delight

GettingStuffed · 23/10/2023 22:18

Sour cherry drops. Think they might have been Trebor, individually wrapped.
That and spangles.

Loubelle70 · 23/10/2023 22:20

Aqua libra (a herbal fizzy drink)

tintinandhisdogsnowy · 23/10/2023 22:22

Little Chef cherry pancakes. Drooling just thinking about them.

This made me think actually so I went and looked online to see what had changed and Rowntrees say that they haven’t changed the recipe at all but they have changed the shape. I’m really surprised that just changing the shape of something like that would change the eating experience so much. You learn something new every day!

Start cereal.
Prawn and egg mayo sub rolls M&S.

I loved both of these!

Brannigans - Roast Beef & Mustard crisps - I dream about them. They were the ultimate crisp and I used to buy a box at a time.

I loved these. Also, the pickled onion.

Isanyonereallyanonymous · 23/10/2023 23:05

Oooh, the cheese melt, cheese moment? Crisps that you got down the pub alongside the bacon fries and scampi fries.

Another vote for both Phileas Fogg's Mignon Morceaux and the Tesco rum baba.

Back in the 80, when French set yogurts were the fancy new thing, there used to be a 4-pack of different flower flavours. Can't remember what they all were, I think one was elderflower and my favourite one was geranium.

And around 15 years ago there was a vegetarian pie - hot water crust pastry, looked like a pork pie but was filled with vegetables - the name of which now escapes me.

Edited

Holland and Barrett used to do those. Huge ones and mini ones

QueenBitch666 · 23/10/2023 23:13

M&S used to do a delicious pack of rice and veg cutlets, sorely missed. And their roast vegetable sandwich.

I'd forgotten those cutlets until you mentioned them! They were so good

Tesco used to do a ready meal of two chicken breasts in tarragon sauce. It was delicious !

Also marks and Spencer prawn makhani.

NewtonPulsifer · 24/10/2023 01:07

Hazel Whirls. When you could buy a whole box of them instead of just getting one in a box of Roses.
