Lighthearted chat to make a hormonal grumps smile.

It's that 24 hours of the month where I am constantly hungry. And by hungry, I genuinely feel as if I've eaten nothing in about six years. So, as I sit at my desk, regretting my food shopping choices this week, I am thinking about what I would be shoving in my gob, if I'd planned better...So far I have....

  • Smiley faces
  • Those Chicago town microwave deep pan pizza things
  • Crumpets
  • Mashed potato covered in salt and gravy
  • Mr Kipling fruit pies (if they had the layer of custard inside brilliant, if not, I'll happily have it poured on top)
  • A full morello cherry pie
  • Proper hot chocolate made with fat milk and squirty cream

I feel like I'm missing a few things here, I'm just so blinkered with the beige, so what would you stuff into your gob right now, if you could pick anything?

Chunky chips with melted cheese and lots of salt.

IHeartGeneHunt · 17/10/2023 13:15

I've been vegetarian for years but sometimes all I want is:
Pork pie
Sausage rolls (Gregg's and very greasy)
Scotch eggs
A huge bucket of KFC
Lamb chops
Roast chicken with crispy skin

Instead I have mushroom stroganoff and veg. It is not the same.

GymWanker · 17/10/2023 13:17

@RubyBoozeDay Good choice!

@IHeartGeneHunt omg greggs sausage roll! Sadly I agree, even if it's yummy (and I'm not a mushroom girl myself) mushroom stroganoff is not the same!

An entire fresh baguette with thick butter. I can't tolerate carbs though.

UsernameTaken76 · 17/10/2023 13:21

I second the baguette and all the butter or a loaf of tiger bread. But also all the chicken nuggets

OnlyYellowRoses · 17/10/2023 13:21

I'm dieting after an all inclusive honeymoon where I had access to 5 amazing restaurants and no self restraint Blush so I'm fantasising about baked Camembert and garlic bread sticks, lobster, all the puddings......whilst I eat a very lacklustre ham salad instead Confused

readbooksdrinktea · 17/10/2023 13:22

I always want cheesecake.

Cakeorchocolate · 17/10/2023 13:29

Cake always cake.

Chocolate, many kinds.
Sausage roll
Pork pie
Crisps

GymWanker · 17/10/2023 13:31

Oh god @Terfosaurus @UsernameTaken76 YES! WARM baguette with salted butter! Or even just white toast with salted butter. OOOH and tomato soup.

@OnlyYellowRoses Stupid salad :(

@readbooksdrinktea which cheesecake would you go for?

@Cakeorchocolate all solid choices.

I've cracked open a packet of rich tea biscuits with a brew. I'm going to eat them all, aren't I?

I'm having cauliflower cheese soup from Asda it's nice

GigiAnnna · 17/10/2023 13:40

Donner kebab with salad and mayo. I've given up donner meat. I loved it and used to have it twice a week. Last time I tasted it, it was so greasy it made me sick. I won't eat it again but I still get cravings for it.

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 17/10/2023 13:44

Kettle Truffle crisps. I'm yet to buy a (sharing) bag and not eat the entire thing in one sitting

Sourdough toasted with loads of butter and marmite

Squares bars (a childhood favourite)

Loads of McDonald's Hash browns

friendlycat · 17/10/2023 14:01

A proper traditional homemade Cornish pastie. Followed by scone, butter, jam and loads of clotted cream on top.

Jamie Oliver’s friend cheese sandwich.

friendlycat · 17/10/2023 14:02

Family size bar of Dairy Milk

Chicken nuggets in the baguette with real butter... (drools)

Bacarach · 17/10/2023 14:18

A massive bowl of hot cheese sauce, enough jalapenos to set yourself on fire and a big bag of cheesy Doritos.

Or a bagel and a big Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese sandwich filler from M&S on top.

GymWanker · 17/10/2023 14:19

Loving all of these! I'll take one of each please!

IHeartGeneHunt · 17/10/2023 14:20

Does anyone remember (many years ago) you could get huge bars of Dairy Milk that were like a flat cardboard box? Absolutely massive. What I wouldn't do for one of those, with the original recipe.

mindutopia · 17/10/2023 14:24

I'm about to eat a big iced bun with a cup of coffee.

Sparehair · 17/10/2023 14:27

Massive pile of nachos with absolutely loads of beef Chili, guacamole, sour cream, hot salsa and tonnes of proper cheese ( not nacho cheese sauce- boak) with a bottle or two of Corona. Jalapeño poppers on the side.

xanthippe8 · 17/10/2023 15:51

A shellfish platter, and I want to get the flesh out of the shells myself, I really enjoy the ritual (not that I get to eat it very often!)

HangingOnTillChristmas · 17/10/2023 15:58

@GymWanker Aldi do an acceptable Gregg's style box of four frozen sausage rolls that cook in minutes from frozen in the air fryer, or you can do them in the oven of course.
Always handy to have a couple of boxes in the freezer for those impromptu moments of sausage roll yearning.

For me, it's a dish full of frozen ( but cooked mash ) with a dollop of butter and grated cheese mixed in, then smothered in thick cheese sauce.
It is attacked with a spoon without remorse or mercy.

AngelaoftheNorth · 17/10/2023 16:02

Lamb bhuna and chicken tikka masala with tarka dhal, cauliflower bhaji, rice and naan.

Like others on this thread, I've been vegetarian for years, so I won't. But sometimes I prefer the taste of dreams.

HippyChickMama · 17/10/2023 16:05

Fresh bread cut into doorstep slices and toasted with thick, bubbling melted cheddar on. Proper strong cheddar, none of this mild rubbish. Alas, I am on a very necessary diet 😞

WhatWouldHopperDo · 17/10/2023 16:10

My current go to is a white bread sandwich with butter, either primula or dairylea, cucumber and salt.

Having to stop myself from eating it for 3 meals a day!
