Who's awake? And why?

burntoutnurse · 13/10/2023 00:46

I can't sleep.

Life has been exhausting the last few weeks for numerous reasons, health, work, my son's MH, teenagers. Insomnia.

I'm missing my DP a lot tonight, he works away. Has been gone for 4 weeks and he could be gone for another 4 weeks. He could be gone for another 8 weeks.

Why are you awake?

Extreme ocd - consuming every part of me ☹️

Hope your DP can come back soon x

burntoutnurse · 13/10/2023 00:50

That sounds tough. 😩

I'm quite used to him going away but sometimes It overwhelms me doing it all on my own if that makes sense

Yes definitely - I couldn't cope that long at all so you're very strong x

robinsnest1967 · 13/10/2023 00:52

Just landed into Luton Airport after 3 days in Majorca

I'm always awake at this time of night, not matter how tired I am. Going to bed wakes me up for some reason. Weird. I hope you all get some rest x

Pmdd. Usually sleep 8-9 hours except the week before I come on. Then it's more like 5. Rubbish.

Still glad to be tucked up in bed.

Hooe you all sleep soon

Glorifried · 13/10/2023 00:54

I hardly ever go to sleep before 2am so am reading and MNing..

Am a night owl, but when I fall asleep I sleep really well.

Hope those of you who are not awake by choice get some peace x

Scoobyblue · 13/10/2023 00:55

I think I’m overtired. I feel absolutely shattered but I just can’t sleep. It seems to be like this most nights at the moment since the menopause hit.

Cakeorchocolate · 13/10/2023 00:55

Pinned under a 1 week old baby.

scoobydoo1971 · 13/10/2023 00:56

I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer today. Radiotherapy, scans and more surgery needed. So rare is my cancer that no one knows how to deal with it yet so the hospital are doing a case conference tomorrow to draw up a plan. I am already disabled from other rare disorders, so too much to think about to sleep.

Cumbrianlife · 13/10/2023 00:59

He's 19 so not a young child but some quite concerning symptoms. It was the GP who sent him here and there's always a long wait when you're then triaged to majors. Waiting for blood results and to talk with the doctors about his chest xray. We know we'll be here all night but hopefully he won't need admitting. He's asleep. I'm wide awake.

I have just made a cup of tea after walking in the door from a work trip. Plane delayed, tech issues on landing then delay for bus to car park. So almost 2 hours later than planned. and without dinner as work things ran late so airport was already effectively shut down (I could get a beer but I was driving). So Pringles on the plane for dinner.

Last night I had a work dinner so got to bed shortly after midnight and up at 7 for a full day of meetings today.

Yesterday I got up at 3 to leave home at 3:30 for the flight and then worked all day with half an hour to get sorted fro the for al dinner.

But at least I had slept for the 4 hours I was in bed.

The night before, I was finally sound asleep when the dog escaped the sitting room where she sleeps and decided I needed licking after she jumped on the bed. So that was me awake for almost 4 hours in the middle of the night.

I am in the middle of a change of job in my work which includes an overseas relocation. But need to finish up projects in current role and managing new staff onboarding around me due to other changes. Before going to a post currently vacant due to someone else screwing thongs up. And I need an eye test before I go and won't get to sort a permanent place to live until I am on the ground.

My body is pretty knotted up most of the time but current stresses mean my back is extra tight and has pulled a hip out which is knocking a knee out that hasn't given trouble since my teens. And I am in pain that I am noticing and needing painkillers for rather than the usual of just being a bit tense.

Dd is a hormonal and exam-stressed mess. Who is doing a lot of sport as she just made the national team in her age category in her main sport.

DH is stressed with work, giving dd driving lessons, and with the reality of my move. (I'll be back lots and it's only a 3.5 year stint).

Sorry, you asked...

burntoutnurse · 13/10/2023 01:02

@BiddyPop
Not sorry I asked! I think it helps to get it out sometimes!

You must be exhausted!

@scoobydoo1971 ...big ol' hug to you . I hope they come up with an effective plan and that you have a full and uncomplicated recovery .
I'm awake because I'm having an m.e. flare; my son made me some delicious plo soup but used a commercially prepared vegetable stock and I feel like I've been poisoned .

Lonesomefetter · 13/10/2023 01:08

So sorry to hear that scooby and Cumbrian, Im just an insomniac, sleep seems to rotate between being up until 4am, to waking up at 4am. Seen far too much of 4am.

Shamg · 13/10/2023 01:12

Discwriter · 13/10/2023 01:16

1daughterand3sons · 13/10/2023 01:31
